another pretty course, using a few libraries (5, if you add “the ocean course, kiawah island” from 2007, which is not included), very hilly, with a few ravines and canyons, and tough with plenty of water to deal with and a lot of blind approaches toward the (often) undulating or sloping greens.
you will off to a challenging start with the short and gorgeous dogleg right par-4 1st hole, with a blind and downhill tee shot between two tall trees set on a small island in the middle of a wide lake, before seeing your first cabin behind the slightly-elevated green.
on the dogleg left par-5 2nd hole, your blind and uphill tee shot will have to avoid some bunkers (midway in the left corner) and land, hopefully, short of a huge bunker across the downhill slope, if you want to have a decent chance of reaching the green with a very long second shot over a serpentine river crossing the fairway diagonally.
then, after the nice and straight par-3 3rd hole, with a tee shot over that serpentine river again, and its sloping green, you will face later on the beautiful dogleg par-4 5th, around a wide lake (on the right) and with an elevated green, before “enjoying” the dogleg right par-4 6th, with a blind and downhill tee shot over a small canyon across (with a little bit of water in it).
if the dogleg right par-4 7th hole is pretty, with a blind tee shot landing past a small ravine (in the inner corner on the right) and along a wide canyon (on the left), and a downhill approach to the green, wait until you see the short, but very difficult, par-5 9th !
bending sharply around a wide lake (on the right), you will need to hit a blind and downhill tee shot over a small part of the lake branching out, while making sure to avoid an elongated bunker, in the middle of the fairway, before aiming your approach toward its slightly-elevated green, hard to reach on your second shot as you will have to hit your approach over the big lake again.
coming back, you will start with the short and “cozy” dogleg par-4 10th hole, along a small hill (on the left) and with an elevated and heavily-sloped green, surrounded halfway by a rocky hilltop filled with trees, before facing the very scenic and challenging dogleg right par-4 11th, with a blind and downhill tee shot landing in front of a deep serpentine ravine, on the left (with water below), over which you will have to hit a blind shot to reach its steeply-elevated and wide green (reachable on foot via a beautiful stone bridge).
on the dogleg par-5 12th hole, thankfully, you should be able to get an eagle opportunity after hitting a blind and steeply-downhill tee shot over a half-moon shaped small canyon (with water in it) and a blind and uphill second shot downward to the green, before enjoying the wide open view as you tee off on the dogleg right par-4 13th, with a blind tee shot over the river winding its way across the wide fairway, midway, and an elevated green.
you will then reach the nice dogleg left par-4 14th hole, along a rocky hilltop (on the right) where, after a slightly-downhill tee shot, you will need to fire a blind and steeply-uphill second shot downward to reach the green, while making sure to avoid a big bunker at the bottom of the big slope, in front of it.
another dogleg hole awaits you, with the par-4 15th, uphill all the way and bending to the right, with two big bunkers, set on a high plateau, midway, and a blind approach to the undulating green, before moving on to take advantage of the nice panoramic view as you hit your blind tee shot over the serpentine river downward to the green on the par-3 16th hole.
finally, after the "easy" and straight par-4 17th hole, despite its undulating fairway, you will complete your round with the dogleg right par-4 18th, with a downhill tee shot and a blind approach to its slightly-elevated green, overlooking the wide lake.
well-designed by m.g.a. hover, with nice plantings and those cabins, scattered all along the course, this par 72 will definitely test your patience and skills, and you will pay the price dearly if you want to gamble too much trying to go for broke on some shots over the water. in fact, if you can finish below par, you should be “hover”joyed !

very good looking course that also plays advanced and expert well, my one criticism is on the 17th green if you are playing dry/very dry its got a very steep slope to it, and therefore very hard to hold the green. many thanks again another keeper for me.

a delightful and well-designed parkland course, quite challenging with water hazards on half of the holes and with (often) slightly-elevated and sloped greens, hard to reach and hard to... read !
if the first two par-4 holes are “slightly” straight, the next two are very tough : the par-3 3rd is gorgeous but scary, with a tee shot flying over a huge elongated lake and landing onto a small green, set midway on its edge, and the dogleg left par-5 4th, uphill all the way and along a lake is beautiful, with two blind shots needed to reach its narrow green, guarded by a small bunker (on the right).
the par-4 5th hole is another beauty, with a lake (on the left) hugging a narrow fairway all the way past a slightly-elevated and sloped green (slightly to the right), and is followed by two “waterless” holes, the short par-4 6th and the par-3 7th, with trees on the right partially hiding a slightly-downhill green, with two small bunkers in front (on the right).
things don’t get any easier on the picturesque dogleg right par-5 8th hole, with a blind and uphill tee shot over deep rough and shrubs landing down onto an undulated fairway (next to a huge sandy area all along the right side, ending in front and to the right of the green), and another long and blind approach toward the elevated and undulating green.
as for the dogleg par-4 9th hole, water is back in the picture with a blind tee shot landing near a wide lake (on the right) and over which you will have to hit your approach to get to the green.
two dogleg par-4 holes await you as you start your way home : on the 10th, you will need to hit a blind and uphill tee shot landing along the lake (on the left), followed by an approach over it, and on the 11th, bending to the right, you will aim another blind tee shot in the direction of a wide fairway before enjoying the view of 8 tennis courts, on the far right of the green.
then, after the pretty par-3 12th hole, with a tee shot over part of a lake, and the straight par-5 13th, with a blind tee shot landing onto a narrow fairway winding its way all the way to the flag, you wil reach one of my favorite holes, the scenic dogleg par-4 15th, with a tee shot over a small lake and a second shot over another lake flowing all along (to the left) to reach the green.
finally, after the dogleg right par-4 16th hole, you will face two superb holes, with the par-3 17th, with a blind tee shot flying over an elongated lake ending in front of the downhill green (sloping off to the left), and the dogleg par-5 18th, uphill all the way, with a tee shot landing onto a slanted fairway (hugging the lake below, on the left) and a blind second shot over the water to get to the green, set right behind it.
with its beautiful layout (normal : “bear” in mind that it was designed by jack nicklaus !) and well-placed water hazards and bunkers, not to mention its tricky greens, this (par 72) club at carlton woods nicklaus course is one of msr’s best, and a definite keeper for me (... even though i think the lake needs to be flattened, midway on the right of the 9th hole, as it looks uphill !).

i found the pin placements a tad easier on this b version but, unfortunately, my putting did not think the same way ! as a result, it took me two more shots to complete this 2011 course, designed by the cgx team...
with nice trees and "funny" details all along (camera towers with a few people looking at the tv screen inside, scoreboards with "these guys are wired" written on them), this par 70 is eye-pleasing, fun to play and quite challenging, especially with a lot of approaches over the water to reach the greens, often guarded by big bunkers.
but, if you really want an updated version (with a par 72), then you should download bobby bolin's 2021 rendition, even more challenging...

10 years before bobby bolin’s rendition of the atlanta athletic club course, the cgx design team created this championship 2011 version which, at the time, was a par 70 (par-4 2nd and par-4 18th, now par-5 holes). if the par has changed since, the course still has plenty of doglegs and quite a few water holes to keep you on your toes, after a relatively cool start with the first three par-4 holes (two doglegs left and the straight 3rd hole).
you will start sweating with the beautiful par-3 4th hole, with a tee shot over a lake and a flagstick very close to its edge ; then, after the nice dogleg right par-5 5th, with a narrow fairway and two elongated bunkers in the inner corner, and a slightly-elevated green (surrounded by bunkers), you will have to hit a tough second shot over a big pond on the straight par-4 6th, to reach the green, right behind.
another tee shot over a big pond awaits you on the pretty par-3 7th hole, before walking over to the nice dogleg par-4 8th, bending to the left around a wide lake, with bunkers on the right side of a narrow fairway, and an elevated green.
on the back 9, i like the dogleg left par-4 11th hole, quite challenging with its wide fairway and downhill slope all the way to the green (with a big pond next to it, on the right), and the other dogleg left par-5 12th, with a tough second shot toward the green, with a small pond on the right to watch for...
then, after two right doglegs, the par-4 13th and 14th holes, you will reach the scenic and long par-3 15th, with a downhill tee shot and a large pond, guarding the right side of the green, and continue with the par-3 17th, the signature hole of this highlands course, with a wide lake surrounding half of the green.
you will complete your round with the picturesque and tough dogleg left par-4 18th hole, with trees in the inner corner, midway, hiding a lake behind, and a final approach over its narrowest surface to reach its small green.
once again, this par 70 is well designed by the cgx team and fun to play with plenty of water hazards and "hand-sweating" approaches toward the greens, often surrounded by big bunkers. but, in the end, i prefer to keep bobby bolin’s updated version, even nicer and more enjoyable...

as you can see there is a a and b version of this course, both versions are the same, only the flag position on the green is different.

important note: a lot of cgx courses are only playable from the: pro tees
the cgx designers created courses in high tempo, so they only made the pro tees playable.
so in tw08 you have to select the pro tees.

another note: there are versions of these courses already on coursedownloads by others: bobby bolin did a very good version of the course in 2021 ( atlanta athletic club by: bobby bolin )

a pretty and wide open hilly course, with a big loch to deal with on a few holes, and quite challenging with large and/or elongated strategically-placed bunkers and wide greens, with big slopes around or near the cups.
the straight par-4 1st hole, along a loch (on the right), sets the tone for what you will face, most of the time on the front 9, with a blind tee shot landing downward between 3 wide bunkers (a few yards apart in the middle of the fairway), and an elevated and sloped green.
another blind tee shot awaits you on the par-5 2nd hole, landing onto a narrow fairway (with an elongated loch, on the right), followed by a long and challenging blind second shot toward the green, slightly to the right (again with a heavy slope to be aware of), before moving on to the par-3 3rd, very picturesque with a blind and steeply-downhill tee shot landing onto a small island green in the middle of a wide loch, where evaluating the distance and choosing the right club will be the key if you want to have a chance for a birdie.
i also liked the straight and pretty par-4 4th hole, downhill all the way along trees on a hilltop (on the left) and water (on the right), and the left dogleg par-5 6th, along the loch and with a downhill tee shot landing near or past a wide bunker, across the undulated fairway, midway, and an elevated green.
then, after the right dogleg par-4 9th hole, with a steeply-downhill blind tee shot and a steeply-uphill green, you won’t see any water holes until you reach the par-3 14th, with a blind tee shot and a huge elongated bunker in front of the green, with a steep slope near the cup (and a big loch, way below on the left).
after a few more "down-and-up" holes, you will walk over to the scenic and straight par-4 16th, beautiful with its panoramic view as you hit your blind and downhill tee shot along the loch (on the right) flowing past the green (reachable after another blind and downhill shot over a big mound on the fairway), before finishing with the very pretty and tough left dogleg par-4 18th hole, with a blind tee shot over a small loch looping around the fairway and an approach over it again to reach the very wide green.
with plenty of blind and downhill tee shots, and (often) steep slopes on the wide greens, this par 72 can easily turn into a nightmare if you are not careful with your approaches. but if you can manage to land your shots above the flags, you might enjoy seeing your ball roll off slowly toward the cup and, who knows, drop in. good... “loch” !

using only 3 libraries, this outpost course looks nice with its panoramic view of the valley and its huge rocks, and its wide and elongated shallow bunkers, scattered all along the rolling fairways and around the (often) elevated greens.
but the first few holes on the front 9 start in a similar fashion, with blind and slightly-downhill tee shots (left dogleg par-4 1st, par-4 2nd, par-3 3rd, facing big rocks, left dogleg par-4 4th, with big rocks along the fairway, and the right dogleg par-4 5th, similar to the 2nd, but with ruins, on the left side behind the green), leaving you with an impression of “déjà-vu”.
the scenery, then, changes a little bit with a wider and more open view of the valley on the left dogleg par-5 6th hole, with trees (on the left) and big rocks (midway, on the right), and the short par-4 7th, with a steeper downhill tee shot landing near more shallow bunkers, and a green, slightly to the left.
on the par-4 8th hole, you will have to hit your approach over a serpentine path to reach the green, while making sure to avoid a large elongated lake behind, before moving on to the left dogleg par-4 9th, with a fairway set between big rocks (on the left, with a wide bunker behind) and a lake (midway, on the right), and a slightly-elevated green, surrounded halfway by more huge rocks.
the back 9 is less challenging with plenty of straight holes (par-3 10th, par-5 12th, par-4 14th, par-4 15th), with the nicest one being the... straight par-5 16th, with trees all along the fairway (on the far left) where, after hitting a tee shot over a serpentine path crossing the fairway, midway, you will have to aim your blind approach toward its slightly-elevated green.
then, after the tricky par-3 17th hole, with a big slope in front of its slightly-elevated green, you will complete your round with the nice right dogleg par-4 18th, slightly uphill all the way and with an elongated bunker, midway (on the right), and a big mansion with a tiny pond on the right (and “cute” small lampposts around the path, not too far from the green).
overall, if this par 72 plays smoothly, i don’t think it is one of m.g.a. hover’s best with plenty of similar holes and a texture used for the rocks, looking a little bit odd (even though it is hard to find one that looks natural). but, despite its “easy” look, your biggest challenge will be to avoid all those shallow bunkers spread everywhere, which is what i think tincup23 meant to say in his comments...

third version after the ones designed by danut golf (2007) and neil munro (2011), this 2013 cgx bro hoff slott gc rendition is beautiful with its wide open space, slight elevation changes, and pretty tough, especially on the back 9, with plenty of spectacular water holes down the finishing stretch.
after the straight par-5 1st hole, along the vip tents (on the left) and its elevated green, guarded by two wide bunkers, you will have a chance to admire a beautiful stone bridge over the lake on the right side of the green of the par-4 2nd, before enjoying a nice panoramic view as you reach the green of the slightly-downhill par-3 4th hole.
water, then, comes into play on the next two right dogleg holes, the par-4 5th, with an uphill tee shot and a blind approach over a serpentine creek crossing the fairway to reach the green, and the par-4 6th, a little bit similar to the 5th, but with a tee shot over the creek instead.
but the best has yet to come with the gorgeous par-3 7th hole, with a tee shot over an elongated lake and a flag, set real close to its edge, and the wide open left dogleg par-5 9th, along a lake (on the left), where you will have to choose the right club if you decide to hit your tee shot over it to try to shorten the distance, before aiming a long and risky approach toward its elevated green, with a big pond (on the right) to watch for.
the back 9 starts with the nice par-4 10th hole, with the ocean (on the far right) and the lake flowing past the green (on the left), and continues with the very pretty and challenging par-3 11th, with a tee shot over an elongated lake and a flag, set right at the tip.
two par-5 holes follow : the left dogleg 12th, with wide bunkers on both sides of the fairway, midway, and a tough approach over the winding creek to get to the green (guarded by a wide bunker), and the very scenic dogleg 13th, bending sharply around a wide lake (on the right) over which you will have to hit a risky second shot to reach the small green.
then, after the “easy” par-4 14th hole, uphill all the way and with a green, slightly to the left, brace yourself for one of the toughest finishing holes you will ever face...
it begins with the magnificent left dogleg par-5 15th hole, with a tee shot over the ocean and another shot over the water to reach the peninsula green (guarded by a bunker in front), and continues with the gorgeous par-3 16th, with trees along the narrow fairway (on the right) and the ocean (on the left), over which you will have to hit your tee shot to get to the green.
last, but not least, you will have to hit a blind tee shot over a... sponsor's car (in the middle of a lake) on the pretty and picturesque par-3 17th hole, if you want to reach its (almost) island green, before walking over to the superb right dogleg par-4 18th where, after a tee shot over that lake again, you will aim your final and blind approach toward its elevated green.
with its very nice plantings and attention to details, this par 72 is one of the cgx team’s best and one of their toughest, with its well-placed water hazards, wide bunkers, and undulating greens. but it is only after completing your round that you will realize “how swede it is” !

beautiful to look at, nicely designed and challenging : with this par 72, the cgx team came up with a great course where you will have to hit plenty of powerful tee shots (especially on the front 9) before facing tough approaches over a lot of water on your way back.
but no matter which version you will end up playing, you will have to be patient and choose your clubs very carefully, as the wind is one of the key factors if you want to break par on this bro hof slott gc course.
if you don't, then this scandinavian masters might turn into a master of... disaster, especially on the final scenic holes of the front (7th, 9th) and back 9 (15th thru 18th holes) !

another beautiful course from stinger design, with a nice suburban panorama far away, some elevation changes, and quite challenging, at times, with very narrow tree-lined fairways, but with no bunkers in sight, except near a couple of greens.
on the front 9, my favorite holes are the straight par-4 1st, with a downhill tee shot and a scenic panoramic view of a big railroad bridge and part of the city far away, and the downhill par-3 3rd, with trees on the left, partially hiding the green.
i also enjoyed the short par-4 5th hole, with its elevated green, slightly to the right, and the very short right dogleg par-5 6th, with its slightly-uphill tee shot and slightly-downhill green, where you should be able to putt for an eagle.
the scenery then changes with the pretty par-3 7th hole, with a blind tee shot downward to the green, (framed by two small mounds in front), and the picturesque right dogleg par-4 8th, with a blind and downhill tee shot and an uphill approach to the green, set on a plateau (and with a small lake, way below on the left).
the back 9 has some interesting holes too, such as the par-3 11th, more wide open and with an elevated green, the par-4 13th, with a blind and uphill tee shot and a green, slightly downhill to the left, but the one that really stands out is the gorgeous par-3 15th, with a spectacular panoramic view of the valley as you hit your blind and steeply-downhill tee shot toward the green.
you will then need to hit two more blind tee shots on the short par-4 16th hole, downward to the green, and on the straight par-4 17th, with another nice panoramic view as you get close to the green, before hitting one final uphill approach to the elevated green on the par-4 18th hole.
if this par 71 is very different from his (only) other course (stinger g.c - midwest), it is, nevertheless, very pretty and fun to play, especially considering that you won’t have to bring your bucket and spade ! but that does not mean that it is any easier as you will have to hit pretty accurate tee shots with all those narrow tree-lined fairways, and putt well on quite a few undulating greens in order to finish with a low scorecard...

a scenic course, with nice small rocky mountains around and quite eye-candy with a river running along or across a few holes, not to mention a couple of well-placed wide lakes as water hazards, and with a few elevation changes, and not that easy with some elongated bunkers to watch for and a few undulating greens, sometimes hard to read.
this par 72 starts in a beautiful fashion with a left dogleg par-4, and a nice covered bridge to look at (on the right) as you hit your tee shot over a small river running diagonally across the tree-lined fairway (and then flowing to the left, all the way past the green), and continues later on with the par-3 4th hole, with a big hill (on the left) and trees (on the right) and a pretty panoramic view of the hilly countryside as your reach the green.
the par-4 5th hole is nice too, with a tee shot over deep rough and a few bushes, and a small lake (with 3 fountains in it) to the left side of the green, and is followed by the left dogleg par-5 6th, with a long and tough second shot toward the slightly-elevated green, with a big elongated bunker in front and to the left to watch for.
but my favorite hole is the spectacular par-3 7th, with a blind and steeply-downhill tee shot over a few bushes and trees, landing past a wide sandy area in front of the green.
the back 9 is quite challenging, with the right dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a tee shot over the river crossing the fairway diagonally, and an approach over it again to reach the green, and the tough left dogleg par-5 11th, with sand all along the left side of the fairway, and a green, across the river, impossible to reach on your second shot, as it is hidden by a few tall trees.
another gorgeous hole is the par-3 13th, with a tee shot over part of a wide lake and over trees further back, again hiding the green.
later on, you will face the long right dogleg par-5 15th hole, with a tee shot through a narrow gap between trees landing onto an undulating fairway, next to a wide sandy area (midway, on the right), and an undulating green too far to reach on your second shot, with a couple of more elongated bunkers on both sides.
then, after the nice right dogleg par-4 16th hole, with a wide open tee shot over an elongated lake (on the right) and a slightly-elevated green, and the par-3 17th, with a blind tee shot over a small hill, you will finish your round with the straight par-4 18th, with a tee shot over sand all along the fairway (on the right) and ending next to the slightly-elevated green.
well designed by stinger... design, this... stinger g.c (midwest) course is visually attractive and quite challenging with a few water hazards to overcome but, if you are patient enough, you should really enjoy it !

a delightful course, with small mountains and a lake (visible far away on a few holes) as a panorama, sparsely-planted trees, and beautiful with a creek winding its way all around immaculate fairways and greens, surrounded with plenty of deep rough and a few very shallow “bunkers”.
the right dogleg par-4 opening hole sets the tone for what you will face, with its slightly-uphill fairway hugging a serpentine creek, flowing past the green (on the right).
but my favorite holes are the left dogleg par-4 3rd, with a tee shot landing short of the small lake (at the end of the creek) and over which you will have to hit your approach, the short dogleg par-5 4th, bending sharply to the right (and following the creek), with a blind and slightly-uphill tee shot landing near the bare side of the fairway (on the left), and the very scenic par-3 5th, with small lakes and their little creeks, left and right, ending on both sides of the green.
then, after the left dogleg par-4 6th hole, along an elongated island, filled with deep rough and a couple of trees (on the left), and the straight par-3 7th, with a tee shot over the creek crossing the fairway in front of the tee box (and flowing to the left), you will reach the right dogleg par-5 8th hole, with a blind and slightly-uphill tee shot and another blind (and long) shot over an elongated lake to reach the green, slightly downhill.
the back 9 starts with the short and straight par-4 10th hole, with a tee shot over deep rough, bushes and a stream crossing the fairway diagonally (and flowing all along to the left), before continuing later on with the right dogleg par-5 13th, where you will need to hit a long and blind second shot over part of the elongated island (filled with deep rough and a few trees) to reach the green, with a little slope in the back.
on the par-3 14th hole, you will need to hit a blind tee shot along an elongated lake (to the left), before walking back the other way on the par-3 15th, then moving on to the short and straight par-4 16th, with a tee shot flying twice over a serpentine creek and landing near some flat “bunker”.
then, after the tough left dogleg par-4 17th hole, with a blind and slightly-uphill tee shot landing between a winding creek (on the left) and an elongated lake (on the right), you will face one last challenge on the right dogleg par-5 18th, with a creek running all along the fairway (on the left) and a long and tough second shot over (or around) a couple of small trees to reach the green, far away.
needless to say, this par 72 is not for power hitters and, just like the course itself, you will have to find your way through the winding creeks, small lakes and paths and think twice before hitting your shots. if you do, then you will realize that this doyle's retreat is a... "real" treat, thanks to big slick !
