whitefield...such a nice name, such a pretty course, just a pleasant stroll in the park...not! teeoff, you did great, a course that ends up testing every part of my game, mostly the putting and around the greens, which are contoured and fast! loved the layout, reachable par 4's and #11 just killed me! thanks for whitefield, thanks for all your courses and all your skill. do appreciate it, and you. |

well, a bit of a false front on #1 took me by surprise...and my drive on 18 ended up in the rough, so i picked a club, took a look and almost fainted, a huge cavern (didn't look to me like a small, deep ditch, holein1) between me and the green! ended up pitching out to the fairway! what a great and challenging course, lots of bunkers, but lots of ways to spoil a round. thanks, rlslay, for another masterpiece, for all your work, talent and ability. |

well, put up on cripple creek on the ipod, booted up cripple creek, and proceeded to have one heck of a time playing neil's tribute to the band! great course, just like a real course - which is a compliment from me, and tests all parts of your game with the right settings! thanks, neil, for a great course, and bringing back memories of the 70's! appreciate all your efforts and talent. hope all is well with you. |

i looked from the tee of the first hole and knew this was a course i would adore - and i was right! lots of waste areas, beautiful fairways and greens that were testing on very dry. i do wish kevin would have followed up with the jn course, but maybe that is too much to ask - 17 years later. thanks kevin, for a beautiful course, i'll play it often. appreciate your work, your talent. |

what i learned from playing the two medinah courses is they both nailed the layout, lovely course with lots of trees. this course is more in its natural habitat, which i think i prefer. it can be a challenge, but plays fair and the rough allows you to escape. somewhere... thanks, kevin, for the course, for all your courses and talent and work. know that people still play your courses and enjoy themselves. |

had a great time playing medinah and wanted to thank all of the cgx designers for all their courses, all their talent. medinah is a jewel, tough, fair, rough you can generally get out of, usually sideways in my experience and that's as it should be. know it's a ryder cup course back in 2013, lots of flags as holein1 noted, lots of stands for the fans. i hope everyone enjoyed it! thanks again, cgx. |

to quote bjmac, "challenging but relaxed"! agree with everything holein1 said, but what stood out for me is the trees - don't know what kinds they are, but they are lovely. i played as directed by kevin, fairways and greens as much as possible. thanks, kevin, for your talent and effort, know that we continue to play and admire your courses. we truly appreciate you. |

i was first entranced by the mountains, they are real. and although some folks like fantasy courses because they can be close to unplayable, i like fantasy courses that mirror real courses, courses that can challenge you but are intended to allow the golfer to win if he/she plays well.i found briar ridge ii to be exactly that course, long, requires good shots, but doesn't penalize those good shots. thanks rlslay, as always. you amaze me. |

thanks gg, green river was (i think) my 2nd or 3rd course. hard to remember, maybe pat would be able to tell me. as holeinone points out it was named after the song. |

really enjoyed my round here, a bit of a mountain course with a river running through it, couldn't tell if it was real or not - which is a plus! i have to say, as much as i dislike saying it, that it's a crying shame that a course a fine as this one is - or any of the courses that our designers work on - that has almost 1500 downloads has 3 comments - an embarrassment. thanks, neil, you're great, your work is great. we appreciate it every day when we play your courses. |

i do love the ocean, and nobody does the ocean like rlslay - it's beautiful, and every glimpse of it makes me pause. how this course got by me for so long i have no idea, but i do have a guardian angle looking out for me, and poof! there it was. lovely, fair, a challenge but one that can be met with the right shots and a bit of good luck! thanks, rlslay, it means a lot to me. appreciate your work. |

a challenging course, quite pretty to look at, but with plenty of thick trees (sometimes in the way of your shots) making you think twice before aiming your approaches to the greens, often guarded by water hazards. this par 72 starts with the beautiful risk/reward par-5 1st hole, along a lake, starting midway across a tree-lined fairway, with a blind tee shot landing short of the water (don’t gamble, believe me !), leaving you with a very long second shot over it, if you want to reach the green (next to the lake, on the right) for a potential eagle. then, after a nice view of the mountains behind the green, surrounded by trees, on the straight par-3 2nd hole, you will move on to the straight but tough par-4 3rd, a little bit similar to the 1st hole, but with the lake (on the right), branching out twice across the fairway (to the left), once in the middle and the second time, in front of the green, making your approach quite risky. the dogleg par-4 4th hole is not a piece of cake either, bending sharply to the right around a wide lake, over which you will have to hit your approach to reach a large green, just like the dogleg left par-4 5th, with a couple of big trees, right in the middle of the fairway, two-thirds of the way, blocking the view of the green, further behind. more headaches are on the way on the short (around 320 yards), but very difficult, dogleg par-4 6th hole, again bending sharply to the right, all along a serpentine big creek, ending next to the green (on the right), before getting a “break” with the straight par-4 7th, with a fairway quite narrow in the middle, with trees (on the left) and a big pond (on the right) and a slightly-elevated green. however, the very tough and long (around 270 yards) par-3 8th hole, with a blind tee shot over a small mound, midway, with trees behind and landing past a small pond, in front of the green, and the straight but challenging par-5 9th, with a very narrow fairway, framed by trees, midway, leaving you with a very long second shot to reach the green (guarded by a v-shaped big pond in front), will keep you on your toes... the back 9 starts with the par-3 10th hole, with a blind tee shot downward to a green, surrounded almost entirely by sand (and with a nice panoramic view of the woods and the mountains), and is followed by the pretty but tough par-5 11th, with a lake, splitting the fairway, midway and diagonally, lengthwise (with a tiny island in the middle), over which you will have to hit a long approach toward the green for a another eagle opportunity. thankfully, the next few holes (par-4 12th, with a tee shot over a lake, par-4 13th, with an approach to the green over a small lake - with a tiny island in the middle), are a tad easier, just like the straight par-4 14th, with a winding fairway and trees, left and right. but another tricky hole, the par-4 15th, awaits you with water across the fairway, midway (and flowing to the right), leaving you with a tough choice : if your tee shot lands shot of the water, you will have trees in the way blocking the view of the green, but if your ball lands past it, then you will have a clear shot to the flag. water is again a factor on the last three holes : the par-3 16th has a big pond, diagonally in front of the green, and is followed by the straight par-4 17th, along a lake, starting midway (on the right) and ending near the green, before finishing with the scenic par-5 18th, along a big elongated lake, starting midway (to the right, and with a tiny lengthy island with small trees and flowers, splitting it in the middle), and a long second shot to reach the green and its clubhouse, nearby on the left). overall, if this twp forest groves lakes gc (one of the 8 twp courses, designed by thekid1435), is pleasant to the eye, with its small mountainous panorama and its tree-lined fairways, it is definitely not made for the... kids, with plenty of tough shots awaiting you on this par 72, where patience will be the key if you want to break par. |

after playing at the mauna kea gc 2020, i decided to extend my stay, one more week, to play this par 72 to find out the eventual differences between the two courses and was delighted when i saw the rugged mountains and the valley, as i spent more time inland, this time around, away from the city. if this course is more wide open and has less tropical vegetation, it is, nevertheless, beautiful too with its ocean far away, its green scenery and its... waterfalls, seen on a few holes, not to mention its big lakes, especially on the back 9. after an “appetizing” dogleg left par-4 1st hole, slightly uphill all the way, the next two dogleg right holes, both facing the mountains, are quite pretty, with the par-4 2nd, slightly-uphill all the way (and with a big waterfall, far away), and the par-5 3rd, more wide open but with a downhill tee shot, and a tiny creek across the fairway, two-thirds of the way, over which you will have to hit a long second or a (safer) short third shot to get to the green. you will then need to hit a blind tee shot over a small lake flowing in front (and to the right) of the green on the nice and long (around 245 yards) par-3 4th hole, before enjoying two more dogleg right holes, with the par-4 5th having a gentle slope around the green to make it more challenging. speaking of challenges, the straight but tough par-4 7th hole, is quite short (around 285 yards) but with a blind tee shot uphill, getting to the green can be risky with a lake, next to it (on the left), and three bunkers around, unlike on the easier dogleg right par-4 8th and 9th holes. coming back, you will start with the pretty and tough dogleg left par-4 10th hole, with a blind and uphill tee shot over a big mound landing down onto an undulating fairway, followed by another blind and steeply-uphill shot toward the green (offering a gorgeous view of the valley and the coastline), just like on the straight and downhill par-3 11th, and its two waterfalls, seen far away (and far apart) as you reach the green. water comes into play again on the nice dogleg left par-5 12th hole, with a slightly-downhill tee shot and a long and risky approach over a big lake, in front of the elevated green and, to a lesser extent, on the dogleg left par-4 13th, with a small lake to the left of the green, compared to the two similar, but very pretty par-5 14th, all along a big lake (on the left) ending next to the green, surrounded by four big bunkers (but reachable with a long, but risky, second shot), and the par-4 15th, facing the valley and the mountains, but with a narrower fairway with a lake (on the left) and big bunkers lined up (on the right). last, but not least, you will enjoy the scenic par-3 16th hole, with a small lake halfway around a peninsula green, before walking over to the dogleg left par-4 17th, facing the rugged mountains and with a small lake, next to the green (on the left), and finishing with the easier par-4 18th, straight and uphill all the way. once again, rlslay designed another very scenic course, and this kauai hawaii gc is delightful to watch and play, and a perfect complement to his mauna kea gc 2020 layout, which is why you will have a hard time leaving hawaii to return to the real life... |

what a wonderful course! beautiful to look at, very playable but scoring can be a challenge if you don't stay in the fairway with your drives. back 9 greens seemed a bit tougher than the front, but may have just been me. thanks so much for the hawaiian course, and for all your courses, appreciate your talent and all the joy you bring to those of us who play. |

with this hawaii mauna course, rlslay is back in his own designing world, as this par 72 is very pretty all the way around, from the 1st tee to the 18th green, with its tropical plantings, beautiful two-tone ocean, villas, buildings, and challenging too on a few holes, with its water hazards and some greens, well-guarded by bunkers. as you face the dogleg right par-5 1st hole, downhill all the way, you might think that you will be in for a long day, with its very tough approach to the green, guarded by two elongated water hazards, a small lake (on the right) and a big pond, parallel to it (on the left, and filled with plenty of bushes) but, thankfully, the next few holes are somewhat easier (par-3 2nd, downhill to the green, par-4 3rd, with a small lake, midway - on the right, par-3 4th, with a tee shot over a little part of a lake - mostly on the right, and the straight par-4 5th, facing the skyline). you will then walk over to the pretty par-3 6th hole, downhill to the green (and with a beautiful panoramic view of the bay as you reach it), before enjoying a break with the wide open dogleg right par-4 7th, with a slightly-elevated green, and moving on to the scenic dogleg right par-4 8th, facing the city, with a big lake ending midway (on the left) and its small green, and the wide open dogleg right par-5 9th, with its wide green, reachable after a long second shot. four challenging holes await you to start the back 9 : the dogleg left par-4 10th, downhill all the way and facing the mountain and the ocean (with a small but gorgeous beach cove below, on the left), is very pretty and with a big pond to the left of the green to watch for, just like the dogleg left par-5 12th, with a downhill tee shot and an uphill approach to an elevated green (with the city skyline behind) where you might score an eagle, if you can avoid the huge bunker in front (and to the left) of the green. then, after the dogleg right par-4 13th hole, back the other way and slightly downhill all the way, the finishing stretch is easier, with four straight holes (par-4 14th, 15th), with the downhill par-5 16th, and its long approach over a small elongated lake across in front of the green, and the par-3 17th, downhill all the way, with a well-placed bunker, right in front of the flag (on the left), being the most noteworthy, before heading home with the dogleg right par-18th hole, with a second shot over a little creek to reach the green. beautiful to watch (don’t forget to bring your camera !), this hawaii mauna gc is also quite enjoyable and even though the back 9 has quite a few straight holes down the stretch, it is, nevertheless, another great course to keep, thanks to rlslay’s talent and imagination ! |

well, running late as usual, i'm sure i've played turtle bay before, and i'm sure i enjoyed it as much as i did today. a beautiful course, some tough holes but enough room on the fairways to land a ball, and several drivable greens that have a nice risk/reward. jimbo63 did a lovely job on the plantings and overall look of the course, and for that i thank jimbo and appreciate the talent and artistry displayed. |

this course is stress-free and pleasant to look at with its panorama of small green mountains, but not too challenging with plenty of wide (and often) undulating fairways and greens (despite quite a few well-placed bunkers on a couple of holes). believe it or not, six of the first seven holes are dogleg par-4s (except for the straight and slightly-downhill par-4 2nd), with three of them in a row, bending to the left (4th, 5th, 6th), before walking over to the dogleg right par-4 7th, with its undulating fairway and elevated green, a little bit hard to read with its gentle slope. you will then move on to the par-3 8th hole, with its elevated green, surrounded halfway by bunkers (to the right and behind), before facing the tough dogleg left par-5 9th, with a steeply-downhill tee shot through a small gap between trees, and a slightly-elevated green, reachable on your second shot for an eagle opportunity. more undulating fairways and slight elevation changes are in store for you on the back 9, along with a couple of challenging holes, like the dogleg left par-5 12th, with quite a few small bunkers, spread everywhere along the fairway, making your tee shot crucial if you don’t want to end up in one of them (and spoiling your chance for an eagle shot), and the dogleg right par-4 16th, with an elongated... lake, midway (on the left) to watch for, and a slightly-elevated green. but, overall, if this briar ridge ii course plays smoothly, it does not have the visual attractiveness and difficulty often seen on a lot of rlslay’s designs, which is why it is not one of my favorites... even though it is nice to finish way under par, once in a while !
