Welcome to my hometown course.Situated in serene mature woodland and classic English countryside at the northern end of Newton Aycliffe,Co Durham,northern England. The course was designed in 1981 by James Hamilton-Stutt, the grandson of one of the greatest course designers of all,the legendary James Braid.Normally a par 73 I have made the normally easy par5 1st a tough opening par4 for TW.I have also lengthened the course for the pro tees but the blue tees remain as a very faithful representation of the course.Its not a penal course of great severity but many holes force you to think and position your shots and of course errant shots will likely be punished.Water comes into play on a number of holes on the back nine with a favoured stretch of holes being 13 through 15.The greens offer some excellent surfaces in the summer and can be very quick.The rough is lush and can swallow a ball whole!I hope you enjoy many happy hours visiting Woodham as I have done.
