Daulouth Golfing Grounds: Wheaton, MN Architect: Chris Anderson Est. 2000
DGG is set in the rolling ravines of Lake Traverse in Western Minnesota. It was originally grazing and hunting land owned by James Fibranz. It then spent 20 years maturing back to a natural state as a wildlife preserve until the land was purchased by Christopher Anderson and developed into a veritable ?diamond in the rough? golf site. It was developed slowly, piece by piece. The land was changed as little as possible and the holes were lain with the greatest of care and thought. Many were re-worked and re-thought up to a dozen times until the strategy was just right.
Patrons coming to this course will not find the pristine conditions of a country club, nor the flowerbeds and landscaping of an immaculate course. What they will find is a course of challenging length that instead of giving the player dozens of options, demands every shot in the bag with a rude personality. In playing the course you will learn the pure definition of ?taking what the course gives you.? Unless you are striking the ball with utmost distance and direction control, you cannot steal a score from the layout. It is not a course to overpower, but a course to seduce.
