Thank you Bob for your detailed explanations. With such a vivid memory, you should have worked for the tourism office at the Yellowstone National Park ! In fact, if you get a chance to go there again, you should show them your course : they might be impressed with your... faithful representation of this wonder of the world. As for me, I am... faithful to my reputation, and it might get worse, now that I just retired, a couple of days ago (ha, ha) !

Holein1, I think you write novels for a living, haha! I thought I would list the geysers and pools. 1 Black Sand Basin, Emerald Pool behind the green 2 Cliff Geyser near the tee, then over Rainbow Pool and Sunset Lake in Black Sand Basin 3 Of course, Grand Prismatic Spring with Turquoise Pool and Excelsior Geyser behind 5 Sapphire Pool in Biscuit Basin behind 6 Over Black Diamond and Black Opal Pools 7 Cauliflower Geyser and Mirror Pool near tee, past Baby Daisy, then Sprite, Calthos Spring, Gem Pool near green 8 Artemesia Geyser, a treat to see erupting 9 Satellite and Aftershock forcing you to make a choice on driver, with near-green Fantail and Broken Geyser in the river 10 Morning Glory Pool by the tee, then over Fan and Spiteful, with a big one Riverside (saw that one go off myself) 11 Grotto Geyser off the left, then past Bijou and Giant, with Oblong Geyser sleeping on the right 12 Over the Chain Lakes, with Bottomless Pit in the middle 13 That's Daisy Geyser going off 14 Fountain Paint Pots force you to make a choice, risk driver? 15 Grand Geyser right next to you, the biggest in reality, with terraces like Mammoth Hot Springs 16 That's big and ancient Castle Geyser (saw that one too) next to Crested Pool and Tortoise Shell Spring bubbling 17 Over Sawmill, listen close for the distinct sound 18 Geyser Hill, with Doublet Pool, Ear Spring, Giantess, Anenome, and the big one is Old Faithful The course is maybe too easy, but hope you all enjoy anyway

Bob, how do you expect us to play golf at Yellowstone National Park when our iron clubs start melting as we get close to the holes (ha, ha) ? No wonder why no one has ever dared trying... but you decided to give it a shot with this fantasy course, quite pretty to look at, with all those geysers, hot springs, fumaroles, mud pots and mineral areas. This par 72 starts with the wide open right dogleg par-5 1st hole, with a tee shot over a serpentine creek (with a small geyser in the middle) and a second (or third shot depending...) over more water coming down for a small cascade near the green, and continues with the straight (and pretty) par-4 2nd, with another winding creek on the right, and a tee shot over a wide and whitish-colored mineral area, just like on the magnificent and rainbow-colored par-3 3rd, with boiling water and another geyser to... gaze at ! After the left dogleg par-4 4th hole and its green set on a wide plateau (with water flowing around behind), you will be glad to walk on the small flat bridge (on the right) to reach the green of the par-3 5th (completely surrounded by more mineral areas), before moving on to the par-4 6th, where your tee shot will fly over similar areas before you can hit your approach over a small creek coming down from two different plateaus and flowing around and past the green in front. If the par-5 7th hole has trees on a small hilltop all along on the left of the sloped fairway and a long and slightly-downhill approach to the green (slightly to the left), you will have to hit your tee shot over a huge geyser in the middle of a small pond, midway on the par-3 8th, before facing the very long right dogleg par-5 9th hole, with a tee shot over a meandering creek landing (hopefully) beyond another geyser in the corner (in the middle, splitting the fairway, next to a winding creek on the right), before firing two more shots to reach the green (with two waterfalls behind). The right dogleg par-4 10th hole is a little bit similar with another wide mineral area in the corner, splitting the fairway, midway (next to the serpentine creek on the right), unlike the nice and sharp left dogleg par-4 11th, where you will have to hit your tee shot over the meandering creek (while admiring a huge geyser on the left) before aiming your approach over the creek again toward the green... The left dogleg par-5 12th hole is quite pretty, with an uphill tee shot over the creek again (and mud fields, a little bit further), landing onto the fairway, set on a plateau, with a long and blind second elevated shot to reach the downhill green. After the easy but scenic par-3 13th hole, with a tee shot over another mineral whitish area (with another geyser) and an elevated green, you will face the straight and slightly-downhill par-4 14th, with another whitih area, splitting the fairway across midway, before facing one of the biggest geysers on this course, down in front of the tee box (on the right) on the slightly-downhill par-3 15th hole, with a green set between some pretty multi-tiered small basins on the left and another wide elongated mineral area (on the right). Then, after the left dogleg par-4 16th hole, and its tee shot over the creek and its pretty geyser on top of a little cone, behind the green, you will move on to the risky par-4 17th, quite short (around 330 yards) but with a scenic green (with a small rocky plateau behind with two little cascades), hard to reach with your driver, as a creek winds its way down across the fairway in front, before finishing with the tough right dogleg par-5 18th, with a long and blind approach (over a few trees on a tiny hilltop on the left) toward the green (with another big geyser to admire). If you can manage to avoid landing into those out-of-bounds areas, you should finish with a decent score on this par 72, nicely-done by Bob Hiker (especially the waterfalls) who, apparently, had such a great time visiting the Yellowstone National Park in 2006, that he took a big gamble designing this "unthinkable" fantasy course !
