For once, you cannot compare the A and B versions as these courses, despite being located in the same town and having the same beautiful mountainous panorama, are quite different, give or take a couple of holes... If the par is the same (71), this Old course is more wide-open (like the back 9 of the New course) and it has more trees, but it is easier with less water hazards to deal with. After a nice wide-open and straight par-5 opening hole, with a small stream running along on the left side and over which you will have to hit your second shot (as it crosses the fairway), you will have to be careful teeing off on the par-3 3rd, with a bunker close to the flag on the left side of the elevated green. On the par-3 6th hole, your tee shot will fly along the tree-lined fairway (on the right) before landing onto the elevated green, with three elongated bunkers around, whereas on the right dogleg par-4 7th, it will fly over a couple of tall trees in the middle of the fairway before you can hit your approach toward the green over a big pond across, set in front. As for the dogleg par-4 9th hole, sharply to the right, you will have to watch for the elongated lake on the right, not far from the green. Just like on the first hole, you will start the back 9 with a par-5, with trees lined up on the left side of the fairway and with a very long second shot over a stream crossing the fairway from the right and running all along on the left and past the green, slightly to the left. Then, after a few more dogleg holes, you will move on to the right dogleg par-4 14th, with a second shot over a small stream crossing the fairway midway toward the elevated green, before facing the gorgeous (and my favorite) par-3 15th hole, with a downhill tee shot landing onto a green (looking more like an island, except for a small patch of grass leading to it), surrounded with trees almost halfway. And just like on the New course, you will finish with the beautiful right dogleg par-4 18th hole, with a gorgeous approach to the green over a wide lake before heading for a well-deserved drink at the nice clubhouse/hotel behind it. But, overall, if this Prosper Old course is also visually nice and plays very smoothly, I found it less challenging than the New one (more fun with its two different layouts), but that should not stop you from checking it out too !
