Once again, you won't see much difference between the two versions, so it will be up to you to decide if you want to keep both... Anybody who has had a chance to visit Madeira knows that there is not an inch of flat land anywhere in sight, so, needless to say, you will be walking up and down quite a lot on this beautiful course, designed by the CGX team. Most of my favorite holes are on the front 9, starting with the left dogleg par-4 1st, with a blind and downhill tee shot over plenty of trees, and a slightly-uphill approach to the green, and the gorgeous par-4 2nd hole, with a blind and steeply-downhill tee shot over a big ravine, filled with trees and another downhill shot to the green. The left dogleg par-5 3rd hole is very scenic too, with an uphill tee shot landing downward next to plenty of trees way below on the left side, and a downhill approach over the ravine (with more trees) to reach the green, just like the par-3 4th, similar to the approach of the previous hole, with a tee shot over the ravine filled with trees, and a gorgeous view of a mountain lake behind the green, further below. The next two holes are uphill all the way, with a very narrow tree-lined fairway on the left dogleg par-4 6th, and a very tough second shot to evaluate (distance-wise and club-wise) on the right dogleg par-5 7th hole, with three bunkers in front of the green to watch for. Then, after the par-3 8th hole, with an elevated green, surrounded by 8 (!) bunkers, you will finish the front 9 with the uphill par-4 9th, with a nice clubhouse behind the green, guarded by three bunkers. The back 9 is a little bit less scenic but the straight par-5 11th hole, downhill all the way, is pretty with a blind tee shot landing near an elongated lake on the left, midway, and another blind second shot to the green. The par-4 12th hole, on another hand, is quite short (around 305 yards) but, with a couple of tiny trees in the way (near the elevated green) and a bunker in front, you can forget about reaching it with your driver. My last favorite hole is the par-5 16h, with a tee shot over a small elongated lake and a steeply-uphill second shot toward the green, slightly to the left (and, again, quite tough to evaluate, club-wise) before heading for a well-deserved rest after finishing with the par-4 18th hole, uphill all the way, with the clubhouse behind the green. Overall, this well-designed Santo da Serra course is very enjoyable and quite eye-candy with its nice mountain panorama and plantings, thanks again to the CGX team...

I always really look forward to a new course coming out, but even I have say this one was well worth the wait, not only looks great it also plays super smooth online , I loved the way the holes seemed to flow so well. I always play advanced and usually dry/very dry, gusty or breezy, difficult pins, pro tees or tournament tees if they have them for the best challenge. Many thanks to all involved for sharing this beautiful design.
