Another challenging desert course, set around the mountains of La Quinta, with plenty of sand all along, some water hazards and a lot of wide bunkers to watch for as your approach the greens. My favorite holes on the front 9 are the right dogleg par-5 2nd, with a tee shot along a big elongated bunker on the left landing onto an undulating fairway and a very tough (and long) second shot to reach the green, with a big bunker in front next to a big pond (on the right) and two more bunkers on the lef, and the very scenic par-3 3rd, with a tee shot over a wide sandy area, filled with a few bushes, and a very wide bunker in front of the green. If the short (around 320 yards) par-4 5th, a risk/reward hole is nice too, with a wide sandy area all along on the left, with a few trees midway, hiding the slightly-elevated green (slightly to the left), I prefer the gorgeous dogleg par-5 7th hole, with a tee shot landing between a big bunker on the left and a very big elongated lake, on the right (splitting the fairway diagonally and ending further to the left of the green), and over which you will have to hit your long second shot to get close to the green, at the bottom of a small mountain. The par-3 8th hole is also quite pretty, with an elongated lake on the left and a few trees, midway on the right, partially hiding the view of the green, with a nice clubhouse on the right. The back 9 starts with the par-4 10th hole, beautiful but quite tricky, with a tee shot over a big lake all along on the left, and a green, “only” 340 yards away but hard to reach with your tee shot with a very wide on the right to watch for. It is followed by the very long (more than 620 yards) right dogleg par-5 12th hole, slightly downhill with a challenging and blind approach over the canal, splitting the fairway midway, to reach the green, and the right dogleg par-4 13th, with a tee shot along an elongated lake on the left landing onto an undulating and sloped fairway, and a very tough second shot to the small green, over a wide sandy area, with a big bunker in front. You will then face two of my favorite holes : the left dogleg par-4 15th is quite scenic, all along a canal on the left at the bottom of a small mountain, with a second shot toward the green, with three small bunkers in front on the left, and a bigger one behind, and the par-3 17th hole is beautiful too, with a tee shot over a wide lake and a green, at the bottom of a big hill on the left, with a wide and big bunker on the left. As for the left dogleg par-5 18th hole, you will need a challenging approach over a thin and elongated lake to reach the green, with four wide bunkers all around... If this SilverRock Resort course is quite enjoyable and looks nice, compared to the real course (see link below), it is less scenic with fewer trees and a "so-so" texture used for the mountains and, strangely, a back 9 with a few different holes (11th, 13th) or some switched (the 12th corresponds to the 17th in real life)... maybe due to a lack of time from the CGX designing team ! Anyway, if you want to look at the real course, here is the link : https://www.silverrock.org/course-overview/
