Even though this par 71 course plays smoothly, it is neither spectacular visually nor too difficult, despite a few narrow fairways, but you will have to be careful on your approach shots to the greens, often surrounded with quite a few elongated bunkers.
On the front 9, I like the par-3 2nd hole, with two big bunkers on both sides of the green, the par-5 3rd, with a narrow fairway, split by deep rough, and with a very long second shot to reach the slanted and slightly-elevated green (slightly to the right), and the short (about 300 yards) par-4 5th hole, uphill with six bunkers around the green, slightly to the right.
Coming back, the downhill par-3 10th hole is worth mentioning, with a few bunkers around the green, along with the very long ((more than 630 yards) right dogleg par-5 13th, with the first part of the fairway being quite narrow, and with five elongated bunkers around the green, and the other par-5 hole, the left dogleg 17th, with a long second shot to try to reach the green.
But, overall, despite some challenging par-5 holes, this CGX Ridgewood CC 2014 course is not one of my favorites, especially if you add a few displaying bugs, quite visible on the 8th and 16th holes (where you will see some black and white areas between the horizon and the layout)...
