A nice course with small mountains as a panorama, quite a few water (and “fans” ?!) hazards, some narrow fairways, slight elevation changes, and plenty of well-placed bunkers near some greens. On the front 9, I like the right dogleg par-5 2nd hole, with a tee shot over a little bit of water, with a narrow fairway in the middle (with a big bunker on the left and a small lake on the right), and an approach shot to the elevated green, with four tiny ponds in front. Then, after the uphill par-3 3rd hole, with fans facing you (real close !), you will reach two of my favorite holes, the beautiful left dogleg par-4 4th (again, with spectators close by), with a blind tee shot downhill and a second shot toward the “almost” island green, and the left dogleg par-5 6th hole, with a downhill tee shot and a very risky (and long) second shot over some trees toward the green, surrounded by a half moon-shaped lake (on the left, and in front) ! After the dogleg par-4 7th hole, bending sharply to the right, with two elongated lakes around the fairway, halfway, I also like the nice par-3 8th, with a big pond in front of the green and a big bunker below on the edge. Coming back, my favorite holes are the very picturesque (and challenging) par-3 11th, with a blind tee shot downward to the green, with water halfway around it, the long (almost 590 yards) par-5 13th hole, with a blind tee shot landing down onto a narrow fairway, and a tough approach to the green over some trees (with a small lake behind on the left and a little serpentine creek across). On the par-3 14th hole, you will need to hit your tee shot over a wide lake before moving on to the next three par-4 left doglegs, with my favorite being the par-4 16th hole, with trees on a big slope on the left, forcing you to hit a blind downhill tee shot near the corner before trying to reach the green with another blind (but uphill) approach. Finally, after the left dogleg par-4 17th hole (with more close fans), you will need to hit a downhill tee shot while making sure to avoid a tiny elongated and winding pond a little bit further, halfway to the left. The par-5 18th hole, on another hand, is quite long (about 590 yards), with fans way too close in front of the tee box, a narrow fairway in the middle (with bunkers on both sides), and a green, slightly to the right, with a huge bunker on the right. This Black Mountain Golf Club is well designed by the CGX team and offers quite a few challenging holes, while being nice to look at, but if you want to have less stress and feel... safer, you should remove the fans, staring at you while you are teeing off !
