Just like the Disney Magnolia course, this par 72 has big tee markers and Mickey’s ears on top of the hole numbers (but I did not see any head-shaped bunkers), the same amount of bunkers (about 100) but, even though it has less water holes, I found it prettier with its wider lakes, undulating fairways, well-placed palm trees and few elevated greens. After the nice opening par-5 left dogleg and its undulating fairway, I like the left dogleg par-4 2nd, with a big lake on the left of the fairway running past the green and behind to the right, and the par-3 3rd hole, with a tee shot (almost) over a small lake to the right, and the flag, close to the edge. Then, after the right dogleg par-4 4th hole, with a blind tee shot over some high grass and the left dogleg par-4 5th, with a slightly-elevated green, you will reach the nice dogleg par-4 6th hole, with an elongated lake on the left and an approach shot over it again as it runs across in front of the green. The right dogleg par-5 7th hole has no water but palm trees in the corner halfway, making the fairway quite narrow, unlike on the left dogleg par-4 9th, where your tee shot will fly over the meandering river running diagonally from the right all the way past the green on the left. On the back 9, I like the short (about 340 yards) dogleg par-4 13th hole with trees in the corner bordering a big lake on the right, and the picturesque but straight par-5 14th (my favorite), with a tee shot over a wide lake (mostly of the left) and deep rough in front of the tee area, a winding fairway and two more wide lakes to worry about, one further to the right and the last one on the left of the green, surrounded by five small bunkers ! Other holes worth mentioning are the par-3 16th, with a tee shot over a lake and 5 bunkers around the green, and the beautiful par-4 18th hole, with water all around a big island, and the green, slightly to the right. With nice plantings and those wide lakes to keep you on your (dry ?) toes, this Disney Palm course is delightful to play and quite scenic, albeit it is easier than the Magnolia course nearby. But, no matter which course(s) you will choose to play, you will have fun in Lake Buena Vista, thanks to the CGX team !
