Well, kudos to Gunny for arranging this delight for us, and to the designers of CGX - and to all of the designers who bring us pleasure. Played this today, couldn't wait, a wonderful course, plays like I remember the pros playing the real course. Can't wait to play it along with the pros in January...hope I make the cut! Maybe I should practice... As raylloyd7 and Holein1 said, beautiful course, beautiful rendition of the original. Thanks.

Playing in Hawaii, you know that you will face breathtaking views and this course is no exception with nice hills and lush vegetation, quite a few elevation changes, and cute little... Mercedes cars as tee markers to add a little spice to your round ! As expected, there are plenty of beautiful holes, especially the ones facing the ocean, such as the straight par-4 1st, with a green, visible from the tee and two downhill shots all the way to reach it, with a few trees below near the green and the nice bay as a backdrop. After the straight par-3 2nd hole, and its nice downhill panoramic view, the course moves inland with the par-4 3rd, with a slanted and downhill fairway, and the par-4 4th hole, with an uphill tee shot along the trees lined up on the left side of the fairway, and a slightly-elevated green, to the left. The dogleg par-5 5th hole is quite short (about 430 yards), but is pretty with two shots over big hollow wastelands on the right, filled with deep rough and trees, whereas the par-4 6th, facing the ocean, is quite scenic with, again, a downhill tee shot over a hollow wasteland on the right, and a green, above the big valley. Then, after the right dogleg par-4 7th hole, where you can hit your downhill tee shot over the trees in the right corner in order to get a clearer view of the downhill green, you will reach the spectacular par-3 8th, with a tee shot over a hollow wasteland filled with a lot of wide bushes and small trees, before finishing the front 9, with the short (about 500 yards) right dogleg par-5 9th hole, with a downhill tee shot landing on a slanted fairway and a slightly-elevated green. The back 9 starts with the short (about 330 yards) par-4 10th hole, with a heavily-slanted fairway and a green to the left, hard to reach from the green, and is followed by the easy, but pretty, downhill par-3 11th hole, with its nice panoramic view of the ocean. After the par-4 12th hole and its downhill tee shot, over plenty of bushes, landing on the other side of the hill, the par-4 13th moves back inland, with a blind and uphill tee shot landing on a rollercoaster and slanted fairway and a green, downhill to the left. Two short holes follow : the par-4 14th (about 300 yards) has a green, slightly to the right with bunkers in front, but is hard to reach from the tee, whereas on the right dogleg par-5 15th hole (about 490 yards), you will need to hit an uphill tee shot more to the left side of the fairway in order to have a shorter approach shot to the elevated green, partially hidden by trees on the left side in front. Then, after the wide-open and slightly-uphill par-4 16th hole, you will face the last two beautiful holes, the left dogleg par-4 17th, with a nice panoramic view from the tee and an approach shot over some hollow wasteland filled with bushes and a few trees (on the left side), and a green, close to the edge of the deep valley, and the long (about 620 yards) and downhill left dogleg par-5 18th hole, with a big slope on the left side of the fairway and a very long approach shot to reach the green, partially hidden by trees in front, on the left side, and surrounded by two grandstands. With superb plantings and textures, this par 73 is a pure delight to watch and play and, not surprisingly, another great course from the CGX Design Team, no matter what version you will end up playing...
