With plenty of nice trees around the course and some... standing in front of the greens, making it quite tough, sometimes, to see and/or reach them, this par 71 will require very accurate approach shots if you want to score well. You will be off to a colorful start on the par-4 1st hole, with a tee shot over a small lake, wide cranberry bogs on the right and trees on both sides of the narrow green, and with the dogleg par-4 2nd, with the fairway following the lake all the way to the right until the green, with a black windmill behind it. Then, after the long and pretty straight par-5 3rd hole, with an undulated green, you will reach one of my favorite holes, the pretty par-3 4th, with a little bridge across some kind of marshland and a big lake around the back of the green. Another very nice and challenging hole is the right dogleg par-4 5th hole, with elongated bunkers on both sides of the narrow fairway midway through, a big lake on the right side, and more water and moss around some trees, in front of the partially-hidden green. After the relatively “easy” dogleg par-4 6th hole, with a tee shot over part of a big lake, the next three holes are quite tough : the left dogleg par-4 7th is quite short (about 330 yards) but, with plenty of trees on the left side, and more trees and a bunker, guarding the front of the elevated green, it is impossible to reach it from the tee ! The par-4 8th hole is quite puzzling, at first, as you stand on the tee area wondering where to hit your first shot with plenty of trees in the middle and two narrow fairways to choose from, with the left one being, in the end, the best choice... Another noteworthy hole is the right dogleg par-4 9th, quite pretty with a big lake on the left side, more cranberry bogs on the right and a very narrow tree-lined fairway in the middle. The back 9 starts with the nice par-3 10th hole, with a tee shot over a wide lake and a bunker on the left side of the green (with a tree on the right), and continues with the right dogleg par-4 11th, quite short (about 320 yards) but, once again, with trees in the way in the corner as you tee off and a couple more in front of the elevated green, you won’t be able to reach it from the tee. Similarly, the right dogleg par-4 12th hole is quite short (about 320 yards) but with trees all around the green and a bunker in front, you are better off if you play it safe. With big trees on both sides of the fairway, the par-4 13th hole, while pretty straight, is not as easy as it looks, with more trees partially hiding the green with a small lake behind on the right, unlike the par-4 14th, quite nice with plenty of bushes in a half-moon shape across the fairway midway and a green, slightly to the left. Then, after three “easy” holes (par-3 15th, left dogleg par-4 16th and the par-4 17th), you will finish your round with the left dogleg par-5 18th hole, quite picturesque with a little table and beach umbrella in the middle of a tiny island on the left side, and those big cranberry bogs to the left of the green, with a parking lot behind it. Overall, cranberry estates is quite challenging, with its narrow fairways, water hazards and trees, often close to the greens and, even though the textures used for the shallow bunkers are a little bit different from the "usual" ones, you will have fun on this course, well designed by Bruce Ryder !
