The sun is finally shining again in... Sun City, as Micko1 designed another gorgeous (and real) course !
With a great hilly panorama to admire, plenty of trees, subtle elevation changes and a few water hazards, this par 72 is very enjoyable to watch and play, with quite a few challenging holes and a gorgeous finish.
After a beautiful panoramic view from the tee of the straight par-4 1st hole, the left dogleg par-5 2nd is quite nice with a fountain in the middle of a big pond on the right of the fairway, not far from the green, whereas the par-3 4th hole, with its small pond on the right (and a bunker behind), has a scenic overview as you reach the green.
After three straight holes (with the par-3 7th and its slightly uphill green, with bunkers around, being the nicest), you will reach my two favorite holes on the front 9: the slightly downhill right dogleg par-4 8th, with its nice panoramic view from the tee, its narrow fairway and a slightly uphill green, and the long (more than 600 yards) and left dogleg par-5 9th hole, with a slanted fairway (about two-thirds of the way) and two small ponds, with an island green on the second one, and a gorgeous and wide halfway/club house behind !
On the back 9, I like the right dogleg par-5 10th hole, with a long approach shot to the slightly elevated green, and the right dogleg par-5 14th, with a wide sand trap and four patches of deep rough in it, in front of the green.
But the best has yet to come with the last three holes, simply superb : the par-3 16th has a big pond on the left of the fairway midway, with plenty of reeds in it, the left dogleg par-4 17th hole has a very tough tee shot over a very wide lake, and the left dogleg par-4 18th, with its slanted fairway, has a big pond (with a fountain) between your second shot and the green, and some very nice small buildings around it.
Needless to say, this course is a definite keeper and another proof that Micko1 belongs with the best designers around !
