I just finished playing this 2021 U.S. Senior Open course, and my knees are aching all over ! With so many downhill tee shots and uphill approaches to the greens, this par 71 will test your stamina, that's for sure... Bobby Bolin designed a beautiful course with plenty of elevation changes, quite a few trees, strategically-placed bunkers, two-tone fairways and clean-as-a-whistle greens, making this par 71 a pure delight to play. After the nice left dogleg par-5 2nd hole, with a slighlly downhill tee shot and an elevated green, my favorite holes are the right dogleg par-5 6th, with two downhill shots and a little stream running across the fairway near the green, and the par-3 7th hole, with its nice panoramic view and a little creek running across. The most spectacular view on the front 9, however, is from the tee box of the par-4 9th hole, slightly to the right, with a tee shot above the small valley and an uphill approach shot to reach the steep elevated green and the superb clubhouse behind... The back 9 starts with the right dogleg par-5 10th hole, with two tiny creeks downhill on both sides of the fairway and with an elevated green, and is followed by the gorgeous par-3 11th hole, simply superb with its view from the tee box of the downhill green, surrounded by four bunkers, and the clubhouse further back ! The green of the par-4 13th hole is potentially reachable from the tee box, but a bunker very close to the flag can give you trouble, unlike the very nice par-3 15th hole, with its steep downhill green. Two other noticeable holes are the left dogleg par-5 16th, with trees partially hiding the view of the green, and the par-4 18th hole, pretty straight with a downhill tee shot and an elevated green, summarizing perfectly this down-and-up course : too bad, however, that a big tent hides part of the nice clubhouse on the right side... After playing so many fantasy courses, it is nice to play a real course again, such as this great Omaha Country Club, where accuracy, patience and... endurance are the name of the game. Thank you, once again, Bobby Bolin for your great design and outstanding work !
