Set in England’s countryside, this par 72 has a wide open look, nice plantings, and a few well-placed ponds and streams to keep you in check, should you decide to go for broke on a few holes. After a nice left dogleg par-4 1st hole, with a small pond across the fairway near the green, I like the right dogleg par-5 2nd, with a stream running across the fairway midway through and the green, slightly to the left. The par-3 5th hole is pretty too, especially with those colorful trees on the right side of the fairway, and is followed by two left doglegs : the par-5 6th hole, with two streams across the fairway (tough to decide which club to use), and the par-4 7th hole, with another stream crossing, this time, a very narrow fairway. The other par-3 8th hole, with two tiny ponds near the green and its meandering walking path is pretty too, even though it is not overly difficult. On the back 9, I like the view of the nice brick house behind the green of the right dogleg par-4 12th hole and the two small houses, again near the green, on the left dogleg par-4 14th, with bunkers in the corner of the fairway. But my favorite holes are the right dogleg par-5 15th, very nice with its colorful tree-lined fairway and its steep downhill slope to the green, and the right dogleg par-4 16th, with two bunkers in the corner of the fairway and two ponds across, near the green. As for the right dogleg par-4 18th hole, with bunkers again in the corner, and an elevated green with a deep bunker in front, you will enjoy the view of the gorgeous clubhouse on the left side of the green. Trent Vale is a well-designed and very enjoyable course, proving, one more time, that Micko is a talented designer, especially considering that this is only his 3rd released course…
