What a nice surprise to discover a new real course, just released by Bruce Ryder, and located in Endicott, New York !
This par 72 has a wide-open look and is well designed with nice paths, small fountains, tree-lined fairways, most of the times quite narrow, and with plenty of elevated greens, some with a few tricky slopes.
Right off the bat, the par-4 1st hole sets the tone : slightly curved to the left, with a very narrow fairway and a small pond with a fountain on the left side of the green. The left dogleg par-4 2nd hole follows with an elevated green, guarded by a pond in front. After a par-3 4th hole, where the flag is very close to the pond on the left side, you will reach my favorite hole on the front 9, the par-4 6th, another very narrow fairway with a bottleneck near the elevated green.
The back 9 has more undulated terrain with quite a few challenging holes, starting with the par-4 10th hole, with its slightly downhill green and (partially) hidden pond on the left side.
The par-5 12th hole, with its rollercoaster fairway and elevated green is nice, but not as nice as the last few holes : the beautiful dogleg par-4 15th, with a big lake on the left side and trees on the right, the risk/reward par-4 16th, reachable from the tee, but with trees in the way (on the right) and bunkers in front of the green, and the par-4 18th hole, very picturesque, vith a lake and a pond on the left side, near the (very) big parking lot, and an elevated green, close to the clubhouse.
If, at first, this course does not look too tough, its narrow fairways and sloped greens will attest otherwise. So, thanks to Bruce Ryder, you should enjoy... En-Joie !
