For my... 800th course comment, I took the easy way out by choosing one of rlslay's designs, knowing that I would not be disappointed... Needless to say, I was right : this par 72 is another beauty, a golfer's paradise and... a gardener's nightmare ! With luxurious vegetation combined with wide fairways, well-placed bunkers and quite a few water hazards, this course is delightful to watch and play as the par-5 1st hole will attest, with plenty of bushes and trees on the left side, a lake on the right and a green slightly to the right. The downhill right par-4 2nd hole, with bushes all along the fairway and nearby around the green, is quite nice too, just like the par-3 3rd, with its peninsula green and nice vegetation around a small lake. However, my favorite hole, on the front 9, is the par-4 5th : not only it looks gorgeous, but it is quite tough as you have to decide whether to hit your tee shot over trees, with the risk of landing in a bunker, or play it safe to the right with a risk of having your blind approach shot fall into the lake in front of the green, slightly to the right ! After that hole, the right dogleg par-4 6th, despite its tee shot over the lake, the left dogleg par-4 7th hole, with its undulated and slanted fairway, and the par-3 8th, with its bunkers in a horseshoe shape around the green, look... "ordinary". The back 9 starts with the easy, but picturesque, par-3 10th hole with a blind tee shot and beautiful vegetation all around, and is followed by the scenic par-4 12th, with a small pond on the left side (with a little creek nearby), plenty of bunkers on the right side of the fairway all the way to the green, and a meandering creek crossing the fairway from the right side near the green to end up into the lake on the left... The next two holes are beautiful par-5s : the 13th has a meandering creek crossing the fairway three times before running to the left of the green, whereas the 14th, gorgeous too, has a creek on the right side flowing across to the left in front of the green with three big bunkers guarding it. Two other holes are noteworthy : the nice right dogleg par-4 15th hole, with bunkers on the left and a big lake on the right, and the pretty par-3 17th hole, with nice plantings on both sides in front of the elevated green, not to mention a beautiful panoramic view... If Cardinal Pines GC is not the most difficult course, ever designed by rlslay, it is another top shelf, especially with those little... cardinals whistling along on a few holes to keep you company !

Gorgeous course, very realistic. Got an ace on the Par 3 third hole. First one I've had in a long time. Thanks for sharing.

I stay away from fantasy courses because too many of them are tricked up some, just enough to ruin a round. This course is not fantasy, it's just a real course that hasn't been built yet. It's definitely a 2nd shot course, the drives are to open areas, the greens are fair, subtle movements that make it difficult to hole long putts - thus the necessity to get the 2nd shot close to the pin if you want to score well. Beautiful course, love the flags, rislay has 4 courses on my personal all-time best list, thanks for your art and skill, this one is a keeper.
