This course has the most amazing textures you will ever find. You have to run it with TexMod as that is the point here. This is not something you are going to find elsewhere. Plus the elevation work on the mounds and greens is top notch. Links courses usually play too easy on this game, but not this one. I sure wish I could rate it a 10 out of 5.

A pretty links course, with its rocky outcropping overlooking a two-tone ocean and the hills of Donegal, far away on the other side, offering some nice panoramic views on many holes, with slight elevation changes, doglegs, some undulating fairways (with small mounds all along) and a few well-placed pot bunkers to watch for. On the front 9, if I like the left dogleg par-5 2nd hole, with a tee shot over deep rough landing onto an undulating and sloped fairway, and its elevated green (too far to reach on your second shot), and the downhill par-3 3rd, with its nice overview, my favorite hole is the par-4 4th, with a downhill tee shot over plenty of rough landing near some small bunkers in the middle of the undulating fairway (with some hedges, small fences and trees along on the right, halfway), and an uphill approach to the green. Two other holes are very pretty : the uphill par-3 6th, rather easy, has a nice panoramic view of plenty of mounds everywhere, and the straight par-5 7th, another one of my favorites, is very picturesque with a slightly-uphill tee shot flying all along a high dune, covered with deep rough on the right of the fairway (with a sandy beach below) and a green, again too far to reach on your second shot. You will then head back the other way on the left dogleg par-4 8th hole, downhill all the way, with plenty of mounds on both sides of the fairway, before finishing the front 9 with another left dogleg facing the ocean. The back 9 has quite a few slightly-downhill holes, with lots of tee shots over deep rough, such as the scenic par-4 11th, with its green set on a small plateau (and a nice view of the ocean beyond), the easy downhill par-3 13th, and the left dogleg par-4 14th, slightly uphill all the way. After the left dogleg par-4 15th hole, slightly downhill all the way (and with another tee shot over plenty of rough), you will move on to one of my favorite holes, the beautiful par-3 16th (aptly named “Calamity Corner”), where you will need to hit your tee shot over a wide hollow area, filled with small mounds and deep rough, to reach the green. As for the last two holes, you will enjoy, one more time, some nice panoramic views of the ocean and the town far away, as you tee off on the par-4 17th hole, downhill all the way, and the right dogleg par-4 18th, with a downhill tee shot and a slightly-uphill approach to the green... As Hyno mentioned in his comments below, to fully enjoy this Royal Portrush par 71 course, you need to play it, using the Textmod application. If you do, then you will be "rewarded" with some very nice rough textures and finish with, who knows, with a nice scorecard if you have a little bit of (Irish) luck on the way...

This course does not run fine without running it via the TexMod app, the rough texture is the wrong blending. I didn't think upgrading the textures of this game would be so difficult. If anyone has any issues trying to run this course the correct way using TexMod's, pm my account and I will get it to work for you. If the course doesn't look like the pictures uploaded than we have a problem.

raylloyd7, the 07 TexMod file only replaces textures in the 07 engine. You need the 08 file for the 08 game. If not the the weed rough texture will not blend in to the base textures. This is not a crashing golf course, built it on a 16 year old out of date XP computer never had any problems with the course.

This is a TEXMOD Golf course, you must run the game via the TEXMOD app (The TEXMOD file replaces the K-Club 08 Weed Rough) To play other courses that uses the K-Club 08 Weed Rough, Exit game and re-start using normal loading.
First download: Portrush Texmod08 http://www.coursedownloads.com/extras/details.asp?id=1121
Create a folder and place the PortrushTexMod08.tpf file along with the Texmod.exe This file replaces the K-Club08 Weedrough and a few structures as well.
Click on Texmod.exe and select Target Application, TW2008.exe Go to Package Mode, click the folder and select PortrushTexMod08 than press run
