A very enjoyable course, pretty to look at with its meandering river and wooded hills and quite challenging, with plenty of elevation changes, slanted (or sloped) fairways, strategically-placed elongated bunkers, and with quite a few tricky greens, especially on your way back. On the front 9, I like the left dogleg par-4 opening hole, downhill all the way with a fairway set between trees (on the left, with an elongated bunker in front, midway), and a big hill (on the right), and the similar left dogleg par-5 3rd, with a downhill tee shot landing past two elongated bunkers (left and right) and an uphill approach over some deep rough on your way to the green. The next two holes are nice too, with the par-4 4th, being slightly uphill all the way (with beautiful autumn foliage around), and the par-3 5th, needing a blind and downhill tee shot to reach the green, set next to the river behind. On the long left dogleg par-5 6th hole, hugging the river (on the right), you will have to avoid an elongated bunker (on the right), midway, and another one, a little bit further (on the left), before hitting a tough approach toward the green, partially hidden by trees (on the left) and guarded by two big bunkers in front. Then, after the short par-4 7th, along the river (on the right), and the par-3 8th holes, with the river behind the green, you will walk over to the pretty right dogleg par-5 9th, with a couple of bunkers midway (left and right) on the slanted fairway along the river (on the right), and more bunkers in front of the steeply-elevated green. Coming back, you will start with the scenic par-3 10th hole, with a blind and downhill tee shot over the river flowing across, and with four bunkers surrounding the green, then move on to the very tricky left dogleg par-5 11th, with a blind and uphill tee shot landing near an elongated bunker and a narrow gap between trees, through which you will have to hit a long approach to reach the green. The right dogleg par-5 13th is another challenging hole, with a slightly-downhill tee shot landing between trees (on the left) and an elongated bunker (on the right), and a blind second shot over the fairway winding its way to a steeply-downhill green (set next to the river), and is followed later on by the picturesque par-3 15th, with a blind tee shot over a big pond (with deep rough and reeds to the left, next to the river, further left) landing onto a green, sloping off on the edge. Then, after the short left dogleg par-4 16th hole, with a blind and uphill tee shot toward the elevated and sloped green (hard to reach with trees on the left), and the par-4 17th, with its steeply-downhill fairway, and a big elongated bunker to watch for (midway on the left and ending near the green, with the river behind), you will finish with the nice and challenging right dogleg par-5 18th, with a downhill tee shot over trees (midway on the right), landing between two elongated bunkers behind, and a very tricky approach toward the elevated green, over a big pond (with a couple of trees, in front). Nine days after releasing the Isla... Corona course in 2020, Wild Turkey takes us, this time, down the valley, with this nice par 73 where you will have to be patient and use your brain before hitting your shots if you want to score well. So, pack up your bags and grab a beer before losing your... beer belly walking up and down this Corona Valley course !
