For once, I will start with two «bad» news : be prepared to face some very tricky greens, either undulating ones or with steep slopes around, making your putts even more crucial and, last, but not least, despite its name, you won’t see any beer around on this course, except your own... beer belly !
Instead, on this pretty links style par 73, you will have quite a challenge with plenty of elevation changes, blind shots, wide bunkers and sandy areas, gorse bushes, while admiring the ocean along quite a few holes and a... wide serpentine lake on a few others.
You will start with a nice downhill left dogleg par-4 hole, with a blind tee shot landing near four wide bunkers midway, and another wide bunker to the left of the sloped green, before moving later on to the gorgeous right dogleg par-5 3rd, very hard to figure out, and where you will have to hit a blind and uphill tee shot landing downward a narrow fairway on the left (framed by two big bunkers in the corner), and a second shot over a wide sandy area and plenty of bushes to reach the other side of the undulating fairway, before hitting a short approach to the heavily-sloped green.
More sweating is in store for you on the par-4 4th hole, with another blind tee shot, a very undulating fairway all along above the coastline on the left (and more bunkers to deal with), and a slightly-elevated green.
The par-5 5th hole is very scenic too, with its undulating fairway, hugging the coastline again on the left (with a nice lighthouse far away), and with a long second shot above another wide sandy area, filled with more gorse bushes, toward the downhill and undulating green.
Fortunately, you will get a break on the right dogleg par-4 6th hole, quite “flat” with only a big bunker across the fairway diagonally to watch for, unlike on the nice uphill par-3 7th, where you will have to be very careful to avoid seeing your ball roll back on the small sloped green, surrounded by a big horseshoe-shaped bunker.
Then, after the par-4 8th hole, and its two crescent-shaped bunkers on both sides of the fairway, midway, you will finish the front 9 with the “easy” but very long (more than 620 yards) par-5 9th, with an elongated bunker on the right side, halfway, and an elevated green, too far to reach on your second shot, with a nice small house beyond, on the right, overlooking the ocean.
The back 9 starts with the pretty left dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a blind and downhill tee shot and a nice view of the green, with a wide and serpentine lake behind, followed by two par-3 holes, the 11th, quite nice with its green next to it (on the right), and the 12th, with a downhill tee shot above the lake and a tiny bridge toward the undulating green.
The right dogleg par-5 13th hole is very pretty but also very tough, with a blind and uphill tee shot landing down the sloped fairway, midway (with the lake on the right and another horseshoe-shaped bunker on the left), and a long second shot toward the elevated green (with a big bunker below), unlike the easier and slightly-uphill par-5 14th, quite straight and with big elongated bunkers to watch for and the beach below, behind the green.
After the nice par-4 15th hole, with its blind and downhill tee shot landing near an elongated bunker on the right, halfway (with the lake on the left), and its elevated and heavily-undulating green, you will head for the scenic par-3 16th, with a blind tee shot over the tiny bridge and the lake, before moving on to the uphill left dogleg par-4 17th hole, and finishing with the pretty par-5 18th, uphill all the way with a blind tee shot landing onto the fairway next to big sandy areas (deep down on the left), and another very long shot toward the elevated green, with an elongated green on the left, next to that lone house, seen on the 9th hole.
Gorgeous with plenty of sand, bushes, and its serpentine paths, this Isla Corona course is very tough and you will have to be patient with some of your shots, and avoid hitting your approaches below the flags on quite a few greens (especially on the par-5 3rd hole), if you want to have a slight chance of finishing below par and celebrate with a... beer at the end of your round !
P.S. As Bruce Ryder pointed out below, a few flatter greens would have made this Isla Corona course, (nicely designed by Wild Turkey), even better, but you should definitely try it out !

Needs a little work...played it on WET greens and the radical slope of the greens had the ball rolling off of the green on quite a few holes. Maybe use stock libraries?
