Where else can you read quotes from such different people as Mark Twain, Phyllis Diller, Chi-Chi Rodriguez, Bob Hope, Yogi Berra and other lesser-known figures ? Well, as far as I know, only on the signs near the tee boxes of the Punaluu Bay Golf Resort, another masterpiece designed by Quietly. Set in a tropical environment, this par 71, with its gorgeous green-mountain panorama and its beautiful bay is, in fact, pretty tough with so many hazards, be it bunkers, water or volcanic wasteland, synonym of out-of-bounds shots. And reading all those signs near the tee boxes, will not help you concentrate either ! In fact, it is hard, at times, to keep a straight face while teeing off... With plenty of water around and beautiful vegetation, you will also face plenty of risk/reward holes where club selection will be crucial to avoid landing in all those obstacles, set along the course by Quietly. With breathtaking views from everywhere, all holes are spectacular but my favorite ones are the par-4 3rd, a sharp dogleg to the left with a wide lake to contend with, the gorgeous par-3 4th, an island green with a sailboat in the bay on the left side, and the very scenic par-4 8th hole, with its volcanic wasteland everywhere, starting from the left side of the fairway all the way across to end up on the right side of the green. As for the par-4 9th hole, you can reach the green with your driver but big bunkers might "welcome" you with open arms ! On the back 9, the par-4 10th hole has a nice view of the bay as you approach the green but the right dogleg par-4 11th, with the green at the tip of the land near the scenic bay is simply superb ! The par-3 12th and the right dogleg par-5 13th holes are both beautiful too, with tee shots over big lakes, gorgeous mountain views and a few houses on top. The short par-4 15th hole is pretty scenic with a wide volcanic area, on the left of the green, just like the left dogleg par-5 16th hole, quite different with its rollercoaster fairway leading to the downhill green. And finally, the par-3 17th hole, while not overly difficult, has a nice view of the bay. Once again, if you want to escape for a great round of golf, Punaluu Bay Golf Resort is the place to be as Quietly designed a course where beauty combines with toughness and a... little bit of laughter, all "for the price of one" !

Holing out for eagle on 1 put me in a good mood right off the bat. Very colorful course! As always, the attention to detail here is amazing. Greens are challenging but fair. #4 is a great signature hole. Love the risk/reward aspect of many holes. Well designed and challenging!

Glad to see you back designing Quietly. It was worth the wait, this course is fantastic. You Mapleton Hills course is still, to this day, my favorite Par 3 course. Hope to see more, thanks for sharing.
