Unlike Steve Martin, this is not a "wild and crazy guy" who designed this course but... Wild Turkey, and I love it ! This par 72 is a little beauty with some great-looking and original holes. As rlslay pointed out, the stone-like textures used around the lakes look very nice and the rocks and the canyons are awesome and quite... scary ! In fact, the first four holes are relatively "smooth", compared to the rest of the course, give or take a couple more on the back 9. The dogleg par-4 1st hole has an elongated bunker on the right and a small lake on the left side (and behind the green), the par-3 2nd needs a big tee shot over the lake, and the par-4 3rd hole, with two lone trees, a few yards apart on the left side of the fairway, will make you think twice about where to hit your shots to avoid the small lake on the right side near the green. After the long par-5 4th hole, again with water on the right near the green, the scenery slowly changes with the par-4 5th hole : after hitting a blind tee shot, slightly uphill, you will see, as you reach the scenic green, not only water on the right side but also part of a deep canyon behind it. If the par-4 6th hole is quite scenic, with its fairway between a lake on the right side and a deep canyon with a meandering river below, the left dogleg par-4 7th hole has an even more gorgeous view of the canyon on the left and the small lake on the right, not to mention... an elongated bunker in the middle of the fairway to make it tougher ! The par-5 8th hole, on the other hand, is less "scary", but quite nice too, with its big lake on the right side, just like the par-3 9th, with water on the left of the slopey green and a small garden in front of the clubhouse, further behind. If you think you are "off the hook" after the front 9, you will be in for a big (and very) scary surprise on the par-3 10th hole (one of my favorite holes) : with a tee shot over the deep canyon and its gorgeous and, slightly, downhill wide green with water halfway around it, this hole is simply spectacular ! However, if you suffer from dizziness, don't walk on that small suspended bridge as it has no railings to hold on (and don't tell me, I did not warn you...)! With your legs still shaking, the left dogleg par-4 11th hole may seem easy, as it is quite short (about 300 yards), but with its small angular lake near the green, this risk/reward hole can be tricky... After two more left dogleg holes (par-5 12th and par-4 13th), you will have to be very careful with your tee shot on the left dogleg par-4 14th, as the fairway is heavily slanted and your ball might roll out of bounds near the beautiful small lake on the left side (with two lone trees at both ends). If the right dogleg par-5 15th hole is quite picturesque with its fairway "hugging" the deep canyon on the right, and an elongated lake on the left side, just like the "cute" par-3 16th, with its small square pond in front of the green and the canyon on the right side, the straight par-4 17th hole will offer you one last eagle opportunity as the green is reachable from the tee box. And you will need it... as the dogleg par-4 18th (my other favorite), slightly to the left, is another risk/reward hole, where the risk of seeing your ball fall in the canyon across is quite high ; however, if you are reasonable, you will be rewarded with another gorgeous view of the nice cluhhouse and its small garden again ! Needless to say, there is no point in... quibbling : this course is a must download, thanks to the great job done by Wild Turkey Design...
