Great deal of detail put into this one. Seemed nice until I got to the 4th and saw the water. Standing water shouldn't look like rolling hills. It should be flat. Terrible flaw to not flatten ponds/lakes before releasing a course. Thought it might have been an oversight and then saw the same on the 5th hole. Quit after that. Ruins any sense of realism. Shame, the other aspects of the course seemed nice.

Just played this course and on hole 4, hit the drive into a bunker. The ball bounced out of the sand as if it were rock and landed 2 feet from the pin! Perfect shot.

The way we are playing here you might want to throw the clubs in the lake. If you throw the clubs in the lake, you might miss the lake.
No course in the works: retired. |

One of my top courses, playing them again to find out why I liked them so much. First off, hit the fairways. With heavy rough you can't do much if you don't. Second, hold the greens - never chipped so much in my life...well, except on real courses... Course is just tough as I play it, and par is a great score. On the par 5 14th (I think) right in front of the green seems like it should be water, but my ball bounced off of it onto the green, not sure what that was but I didn't mind at all. Thanks for a great course, and after playing it again I now know why it's on my top courses list! Thanks, MSR.

A spectacular course, designed by MSR Golf, with two-color fairways, sometimes very narrow, gorgeous trees (with different shades of green leaves), great elevation changes, deep bunkers and... knee-high rough almost everywhere ! This par 71 course is a pure delight to watch and requires some precise shots to avoid landing in the rough bordering the fairways or guarding the greens. The par-4 2nd hole is a perfect example with its narrow fairway and uphill green. Then, after a nice par-3 3rd hole, the following 3-hole stretch is superb : the twisted par-4 4th, very tough with water on the left side and a very long approach shot to try to reach the green with water and bunkers on the right side, the gorgeous par-3 5th with water between the tee and the green, and the long dogleg to the right par-5 6th hole, with a big lake on the right side. And let's not forget the dogleg to the left par-4 9th hole, with its very long approach shot to the green... The back 9 offers a different challenge with plenty of elevation terrain, such as on the dogleg par-4 10th hole, with water on the left side of the slanted fairway and an uphill green. Both par-5 11th and par-4 12th holes have rollercoaster fairways with long and uphill tough approach shots to the greens. The par-3 16th and par-4 17th holes are pretty nice too, leading to the par-5 18th, a dogleg to the left where, once again, teeing off will require some thinking about club selection if you don't want to end up in the rough... again ! With such manicured fairways (everything looks impeccable !, gardeners at Chiba must be working 24h/day and feel like kings and queens on this course but, certainly not... zozos !
