Welcome to Waterworld... but don't expect to meet Kevin Costner (!) on this challenging and pretty par 72 course, with plenty of dogleg holes, subtle elevation changes, slanted and/or sloped fairways and quite a few undulating greens. On the front 9, my favorite holes are the uphill left dogleg par-4 2nd, with a small lake, hidden by trees in front (on the left) and an elevated green, and the other left dogleg risk/reward par-4 5th, where you can reach the green with your driver if you can hit your shot above a golf cart (on the left) and a lone tree in front (further to the right), and the elongated lake (with a lone tree on its edge) in front of the green. The par-5 6th is another tough left dogleg hole, with a downhill tee shot landing onto a slanted and narrow fairway, with bunkers on both sides (and nice houses on the right), and a challenging shot over a small lake and thick trees to reach its hidden elevated green. Two other noteworthy holes are the par-3 8th, where you will need to hit a blind and downhill tee shot above a lone tree (on the right, not too far from the tee box) to reach its green, set next to an elongated lake (on the right), and the par-5 9th, a dogleg bending sharply to the right, with trees in the corner over which you can hit your tee shot to land your ball next to an elongated lake on the left (ending near the elevated green, guarded by a big bunker in front). Coming back, I also like the left dogleg par-4 10th hole, with its blind and uphill tee shot landing near a lake surrounding the fairway halfway, and over which you will have to hit your blind approach to reach the elevated green, and the par-3 11th, with (another) blind and sharply-downhill tee shot along a lake (on the right, and ending behind the green). On the sharply-to-the-right dogleg par-5 12th hole, you can kiss goodbye to an eagle where, despite hitting a downhill and blind tee shot landing near plenty of trees in the right corner (with a big elongated bunker behind and 2 big elongated bunkers further down the slanted fairway, on the edge of a lake, on the left), you won't be able to reach its elevated green on your 2nd shot... As for the par-3 15th hole, seeing trees on the left side (in front of the tee box) will "force" you to hit your blind tee shot to the right in order to reach the green, surrounded halfway by a lake, before moving on to the short left dogleg par-4 16th, with a downhill tee shot landing onto a heavily-slanted fairway, split diagonally halfway by a serpentine lake, and over which you will have to hit your approach to reach its steeply-elevated green. The par-4 17th hole, on another hand, is steeply-downhill with a tee shot flying above a meandering lake and landing onto a heavily-sloped fairway, with three bunkers around, whereas, on the par-5 18th, you will need to hit a blind and downhill tee shot along a lake (on the right) landing short of the water, partially splitting the fairway, midway, before firing a very long and blind uphill second shot to try to reach the green, hidden by trees, way in front. Overall, with water coming into play on every hole (even if on a couple, it is not a real hazard), this M.G.A. Hover's well-designed Uberwald G&CC course will require patience and pretty accurate approaches (not to mention good putting !) if you want to finish with a decent score...
