This links course has breathtaking panoramic views of the small mountains and a lake, but don't be fooled by its beauty as it is pretty tough, with elevation changes, rollercoaster fairways, big mounds, pot bunkers (near, and on, the greens), gorse bushes and a few risk/reward holes. On the front 9, the left dogleg par-4 2nd hole is superb, with a blind uphill tee shot over gorse bushes and a downhill slope to the green (with more gorse in between), whereas the right dogleg par-4 5th is quite short (about 320 yards) but, with a big rocky mound on the right side near the tee box, hiding the downhill fairway, and plenty of mounds on the right side, cutting the corner might not be your best idea as pot bunkers will welcome you with "open arms", should you choose to do so ! Thankfully, the downhill (and right) par-4 6th hole is relatively "easy" and you will enjoy the beautiful views of a castle on the left side on the fairway and the nice panorama in front. After the nice downhill par-3 7th hole, with a big bunker on the very wide green (and a lake further above), you will face a very tough choice (club-wise) with the gorgeous right dogleg par-5 8th, as it is almost impossible to hit your tee shot and reach the fairway above without landing in the gorse bushes on the slope below. And guess what ? More gorse bushes await you on your second shot to the green ! After such a hole, the downhill right dogleg par-4 9th, will seem "easy" despite its big mounds on the right side of the fairway and pot bunkers on the left... The back 9 starts with another risk/reward hole as the par-4 10th is quite short (about 320 yards) but, with an uphill tee shot and the strategically-placed pot bunker right in front of the green, you might want to lay off... Two of the most picturesque holes follow with the downhill par-3 12th, with a church, a big house and a castle next to the road on the left side of the fairway and with a slightly-elevated green surrounded by sand, and the par-4 13th hole, where the fairway is parallel to the road and where you will have a much closer look of the beautiful surroundings. Then, after the right dogleg downhill par-5 14th hole, with plenty of mounds on the right side of the fairway, the right dogleg par-4 16th, with a big rocky mound halfway on the left side of the fairway (and gorse bushes right across), will again challenge you, just like when you tried to tee off from the 8th hole. Even though there are only about 20 trees on this links course, you won't be... out of the woods yet, with the very steep downhill par-3 17th hole and its little creek running across near the green (with pot bunkers nearby), and the very tough par-5 18th, slightly to the right, with gorse bushes halfway through, an uphill 2nd shot onto a tiered fairway, and a green further down with a small creek below and bunkers real close to the uphill green !!! If you can finish at even par or slightly below on this course, you will have accomplished quite a feat, as Bobby Bolin designed a great course, worth playing quite a few times !

I don't play many fantasy courses, but this one is exceptional - not gimmicked (sp) up, but requires accuracy off the tee, the rough is brutal. Get in trouble, you better just pitch out and take your medicine. Haven't figured out how to play a good round with wind, dry greens and heavy rough yet. Thanks, Bobby.
