An interesting course, with a lot of short holes, wide and (often) undulating and/or slanted fairways, elevation changes, big elongated bunkers, and quite challenging with multi-tiered greens often hard to read. If the first two holes almost look alike, with a creek flowing on the left, the opening par-4 requires a downhill tee shot before you can see its green set on a mound, unlike the shorter par-4 2nd, slightly uphill with a slanted fairway. The par-3 3rd hole, on another hand, is quite short but you will need to hit a blind and uphill tee shot to reach the downhill and sloped green, close to the creek on the left, before moving on to the pretty par-4 4th, with a creek flowing to the left (and a big elongated bunker next to it) ending into a wide lake behind the green, guarded by another wide bunker on the right. The par-5 5th is another scenic hole, with its winding creek (left) and stone path (right), undulating and slanted fairway and its slightly-downhill green, and is followed by the par-3 6th, similar to the 3rd hole, but longer. You will get your first eagle opportunity on the waterless short right dogleg par-4 7th hole, whose green is reachable from the tee box (despite being partially hidden by trees on the right), before facing the left dogleg par-4 8th, slightly uphill, with a tee shot above trees in the corner landing near a big elongated bunker on the right. As for the par-4 9th hole, it is rather short but quite risky if you want to reach its heavily-sloped green, with a big elongated bunker below (on the right). The back 9 starts with the pretty par-4 10th hole, with a blind and steeply-downhill tee shot over trees and a winding creek across flowing all along to the left of the fairway, and is followed by the scenic right dogleg par-5 11th, where you can cut the corner by hitting your downhill tee shot over trees in order to see the creek on the left and the elevated green. The par-3 13th hole is quite tricky, with a blind tee shot landing downward an undulating green, surrounded by three elongated bunkers and with a wide lake behind, but don’t underestimate the right dogleg par-5 15th, with its winding creek on the left and its slightly-uphill wide green. Then, after getting another eagle opportunity on the straight and short par-4 16th hole, and a birdie shot on the downhill par-4 17th, you will finish with the picturesque par-4 18th hole, with a downhill tee shot landing onto an undulating fairway and a steeply-uphill approach to the green, with a nice but unusual-looking big rotunda behind. Needless to say, putting will be the key on this par 72 if you want to score well with plenty of undulating and/or tiered greens. And with its thick trees and nice stone paths to look at, this Clearwater Creek is pretty too, thanks to M.G.A. Hover's nice design.

As a matter of fact. I have revisited several of my old courses before I picked up designing again. In all honesty, i found some of the greens ridiculously unplayable. So I am trying to aim for a compromise now. They should be challenging, but fair. You will always have a flat area of at least a couple of square feet around every flag that rewards you with a straight put. If you miss it, you may risk running off the green altogether, though. I think that makes for a nice challenge for cybergolf players. I do appreciate comments, both positive and negative, so don't hesitate to let me know what you think is wrong. You may well be right....

Another winner Jimi. Hole nine was a bitch, but then, I always play on gusty and verydry. I liked the use of many multi tiered greens. Perhaps you might revisit Charlevoix to refresh your memory of a real masterpiece...fast greens , transitional elevations, superb eyecandy..etc. Thanks again
