A pretty and wide open hilly course, with a big loch to deal with on a few holes, and quite challenging with large and/or elongated strategically-placed bunkers and wide greens, with big slopes around or near the cups. The straight par-4 1st hole, along a loch (on the right), sets the tone for what you will face, most of the time on the front 9, with a blind tee shot landing downward between 3 wide bunkers (a few yards apart in the middle of the fairway), and an elevated and sloped green. Another blind tee shot awaits you on the par-5 2nd hole, landing onto a narrow fairway (with an elongated loch, on the right), followed by a long and challenging blind second shot toward the green, slightly to the right (again with a heavy slope to be aware of), before moving on to the par-3 3rd, very picturesque with a blind and steeply-downhill tee shot landing onto a small island green in the middle of a wide loch, where evaluating the distance and choosing the right club will be the key if you want to have a chance for a birdie. I also liked the straight and pretty par-4 4th hole, downhill all the way along trees on a hilltop (on the left) and water (on the right), and the left dogleg par-5 6th, along the loch and with a downhill tee shot landing near or past a wide bunker, across the undulated fairway, midway, and an elevated green. Then, after the right dogleg par-4 9th hole, with a steeply-downhill blind tee shot and a steeply-uphill green, you won’t see any water holes until you reach the par-3 14th, with a blind tee shot and a huge elongated bunker in front of the green, with a steep slope near the cup (and a big loch, way below on the left). After a few more "down-and-up" holes, you will walk over to the scenic and straight par-4 16th, beautiful with its panoramic view as you hit your blind and downhill tee shot along the loch (on the right) flowing past the green (reachable after another blind and downhill shot over a big mound on the fairway), before finishing with the very pretty and tough left dogleg par-4 18th hole, with a blind tee shot over a small loch looping around the fairway and an approach over it again to reach the very wide green. With plenty of blind and downhill tee shots, and (often) steep slopes on the wide greens, this par 72 can easily turn into a nightmare if you are not careful with your approaches. But if you can manage to land your shots above the flags, you might enjoy seeing your ball roll off slowly toward the cup and, who knows, drop in. Good... “loch” !
