Brilliant design and a great course. The quality is all over this one - it looks lovely and picturesque, plays faultlessly, and the design appears to capture all the nuances of the real deal. The layout is an entertaining one, with some good, clever holes. It's not tough but one facet throughout is the elevated, dome-like greens, that bring constant challenges to your approach shots - I made less than half GIR. A few standout holes.. I really liked the par 4 3rd and par 4 17th, and all the one-shotters are sweet. I probably enjoyed the front 9 more, partly due to most of the par 5's being on the back and they're all a little pedestrian. But all up it's a very nice and enjoyable course, and the design is pure Grade A. Cheers!

Stunning course visually with so many great little details (floodlights, fountains, "Turkish Airlines" scale model planes as tee markers, etc...) that you really feel disappointed after the 18th hole, knowing that your round is already over ! This par 72 is a pure gem and delightful to watch and play, even though it is not overly difficult. With gorgeous plantings, undulated and slanted fairways, a few tough pin placements, plenty of water hazards and some deep bunkers, you will need some accurate shots, at times, to avoid getting your feet wet or your shoes full of sand... Of all the nice holes, my favorite holes are the par-4 3rd, with its up-and-down slanted and twisted fairway and its strategically-placed bunker right in the middle of it, and the scenic par-5 10th hole, with its lake alongside the fairway on the left and its three fountains. I also like the par-4 13th hole, with its view as you reach the green, the par-5 15th, with its tough approach shot to reach the small green, with the lake in front, and the nice view of the green on the par-4 18th hole. In fact, this course makes you realize that, with time, designing tools have improved so much, that you wish all courses could look like this one. Thankfully, some designers update previous versions of their creations for all of us to enjoy !

Let me start by stating that I think this course is a master piece. I have watched the tournament that was played on this course on tv and the attention to detail is astounding. From the lay-out of the holes to the planting of trees and bushes, from the wonderful retaining walls and fountains in the ponds to the floodlights placed all over the course, this is as perfect as we can get to a "real " course as the course architect allows, I think. I scored a -14 on my First round. And that is my main objection to "real" courses. They are, by and large, too easy. That goes for the courses that come with the game as well. I believe that in golf, whether it be real or "fantasy", a birdie should be a reward and a par a relief. In most "real" courses, a par is a disappointment. I find that disappointing. Although I think I understand why people would find it exciting to play far below par on a course that the real pros struggle to score par in real life, it is of course a bit of a fake experience. So I have tried to create courses myself that may be "fantasy " but that look realistic and offer the player a realistic experience of the game. Whether I succeed or not, I leave up to the players. I have replayed some of my earlier courses since I returned to course design after a 10 year hiatus, and I''ll gladly admit that some of the greens on these courses are ridiculous. So in my new incarnation I have been trying to correct that and create greens that are tough, but always playable. After this little explanation of my own design phiolosophy I would like to end by repeating what I said at the start of this little review: "Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort " is a master piece of course design that all course designers, aspiring and accomplished alike, would do good to study, if only to see what is possible.

What a beautiful course design! Very realistic looking as a course in general. I did find the greens a bit easy.(played very dry and gusty) Thanks Mike.
