A very challenging course, with plenty of elevation changes, blind shots and elongated bunkers often strategically-placed in the... middle of sloped or slanted fairways, midway, and with quite a few undulated greens to deal with ! You will get a taste of what to expect with the uphill par-4 1st hole, where you will have to land your tee shot between two bunkers, midway, and follow with a nice approach toward the green (slightly to the left), before hitting a blind and downhill tee shot on the left dogleg par-5 2nd, and a long and uphill second shot to reach the green. On the uphill par-3 3rd hole, don’t take a birdie for granted as you will have to be careful with the big slope around and near the flag, just like on the par-4 4th, where you will need two blind shots (downhill, then uphill) to reach its steeply-elevated green. The next four holes are a little bit “easier”, with the right dogleg par-4 5th needing, once again, two blind shots (uphill, then downhill) to get to the green, unlike the downhill par-3 6th, the wide open right dogleg par-4 7th (and its steeply-elevated green), and the short par-4 8th, with elongated bunkers near the green to watch for. You will finish the front 9 with a straight par-4 hole, uphill with a slanted fairway and an elongated bunker, starting midway (along on the right) and ending in front (and to the left) of the green, with a couple of small mounds to worry about. Coming back, I like the par-4 10th hole, with a blind and downhill tee shot landing near two elongated bunkers (on the sides of a rollercoaster fairway) and another blind and downhill shot to the green, and the beautiful, but scary, par-3 11th, with a blind and steeply-downhill tee shot flying over a big lake and a big rock, set right in front of its undulated green. Two par-5 holes follow, with my favorite being the 12th, a long left dogleg, uphill all the way, with three more elongated bunkers midway, and a very long and blind second shot toward the green. Then, after the straight par-4 14th hole, with a blind and uphill tee shot landing near two bunkers (and a blind and steeply-downhill shot to reach the green), you will face the “cute” par-3 15th, with a downhill tee shot landing past a small pond, halfway around in front and to the sides of the green, before moving on to the par-4 16th, where you will have to avoid three big elongated bunkers, scattered left and right, midway, with the last one ending in front of the green (to the left). One last challenge will await you on the pretty right dogleg par-5 18th hole, with a tricky tee shot landing in front of a big bunker, all across the fairway, and right at the bottom of a plateau, over which you will have to hit a blind second shot to get close to the green, before admiring the big castle on the hilltop behind. With its nice planting and a couple of beautiful castles, this par 72 is very enjoyable to watch and play, thanks to M.G.A Hover, but you will have to remain on your toes until the 18th green if you want to feel like a king at the end of your round...
