Right off the bat, you will see on the right dogleg opening par-4 hole that this course is a misnomer, as its fairway hugs a... big and wide elongated lake, with a few trees and bunkers in the middle, just like the similar par-4 2nd (but without the trees). You will continue your "stroll" around the lake with a blind and uphill tee shot on the short (around 235 yards) and quite risky par-4 3rd hole, with its small green, surrounded by steep slopes and big bunkers, next to the water on the right, and the par-4 4th, with another uphill tee shot landing downward onto a very undulating and slanted fairway before hitting a short approach to the green, set above big rocks on the left, at the edge of the lake. Another short (around 430 yards) hole awaits you on the dogleg par-5 5th, bending very sharply to the left of the lake, with a very tough and blind uphill shot above big rocks to reach its downhill green, before walking to the gorgeous par-3 6th hole, with its cute little "caterpillar-shaped" rocky bridge leading to its island green (with those big rocks on the far right). Then, after the right dogleg par-4 7th hole, again around the lake on the right (and with a big bunker, splitting the fairway, midway in the corner), and another big bunker, in front of the green, you will face the beautiful, but very challenging, dogleg par-5 8th, sharply to the right, where you will have to think twice before teeing off over the wide lake, hoping to reach its uphill fairway across, before hitting another blind uphill shot to the slanted green, overlooking the lake, and finishing with the long par-3 9th hole, with another blind shot downward to the green. Believe it or not, water is not present on the left dogleg and slightly-uphill par-4 10th hole, but wide bunkers are (in the middle of the fairway !), unlike on the pretty par-4 11th, as you will find out after hitting a blind and downhill tee shot landing near a smaller elongated lake (on the right) and trees lined up on the left of the narrow fairway, and an uphill approach to the green, guarded by an elongated bunker on the right. You will then head back the other way with an uphill tee shot on the right dogleg par-4 12th hole, with more wide bunkers awaiting your errant uphill shot toward the green, before facing another scary hole, the left dogleg par-4 13th where, after holding your breath seeing your blind uphill tee shot fly steeply-down, next to those big rocks and the lake in front (and a wide bunker in the corner), you will need an uphill approach to reach its sloped green. Thankfully, the uphill par-3 14th hole will offer you a little relief, with its “easy” tee shot landing down a wide green (surrounded by more wide bunkers), and so will the two water-less following par-4 holes, the mostly-straight 15th and 16th holes, and the right dogleg par-4 17th, with an uphill tee shot landing onto a very wide fairway, and a blind second shot landing downward to the very pretty green... overlooking the lake again. Finally, after hitting an uphill tee shot on the left dogleg par-4 18th hole and, hopefully avoiding three wide bunkers halfway in the corner, you will have time to admire the gorgeous castle on the left before hitting your last approach to the green, surrounded by big slopes. With this very challenging par 72, M.G.A. Hover designed a beautiful course, with plenty of steep elevation changes and "well-placed" wide (and/or) elongated bunkers, which will guarantee you... big aches and pains !

Fellow golfers, you shouldn't be surprised by the quality of the courses Martijn Hover makes. I counted 86 Tiger Woods 2006, 2007 and 2008 courses made under the name of M.G.A.Hover, Chimaera Design and Jimi. Moreover, if you ever played Sierra PGA championship Golf on your computer, you also found many, many Hover courses. So we can't be grateful enough that he is back designing TW08 courses. Dank je wel Martijn; je moet je halve leven bezig zijn geweest, met al de banen te ontwerpen (in English: thank you Martijn, you should spent half of your life designing all those courses, just for our fun!)
