A very scenic course (updated from 2009) from Jimbo63, with that nice Lake District panorama to admire, wide lakes to watch for, plenty of elevation changes, nice plantings and quite challenging. This par 71 starts with the tough right dogleg par-4 1st hole, with a blind and uphill tee shot over trees and another blind uphill approach... down to the green, and is followed by the left dogleg par-4 2nd, downhill all the way with a blind tee shot, and two big elongated lakes on the right. The downhill par-3 3rd hole is very pretty, with a big hill on the left of the green and a wide and shallow waste area on the right, filled with high rough and bushes, just like the right dogleg par-4 4th where, after a blind and downhill tee shot over trees landing onto an undulating fairway (with two big elongated bunkers on both sides midway around the corner), you will need to hit an uphill shot to the green, guarded by another bunker in front. The left dogleg par-4 5th hole is a little bit similar to the 2nd, with a downhill tee shot over bushes (and along plenty of trees on the left side of the fairway) landing near two big elongated lakes (again on the right), but the green is uphill instead and pretty close to the lake. If the left dogleg par-4 6th hole is nice, with its rollercoaster and slanted fairway, its deep lake on the right and a big elongated bunker, a little further not far from the uphill green (with a nice panoramic view beyond), I prefer the gorgeous right dogleg par-5 7th, downhill all the way with a tee shot over trees landing onto a narrow fairway, with a deep dry riverbed (filled with high rough and trees) on the left, and small mounds on the right, and a small bunker, slightly to the left, right in front of the green. On the pretty par-3 8th hole, you will need to hit a blind and downhill tee shot over another wide and deep waste area (filled with high rough, bushes and a few trees) before moving on to the left dogleg par-4 9th, downhill all the way with a blind tee shot over some high rough across, not far from the tee box, and some trees. The scenery becomes more wide open on the back 9, starting with the pretty dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a blind and downhill tee shot, a wide and elongated lake on the right, plenty of trees on the left of the slanted fairway, and a downhill approach to the green (guarded by a deep and elongated bunker in front - and to the right), and continues with the right dogleg par-4 11th, with a fairway hugging the lake on the right, but with a clear tee shot over part of it (midway across the fairway), and a slightly-uphill second shot to the green. But my favorite holes are the spectacular par-3 12th, with a straight downhill tee shot over part of a wide lake on the left, with trees in front of the green hiding it (and a gorgeous panoramic view of the lakes and the small mountains behind), and the scenic right dogleg par-4 13th hole, with a downhill tee shot landing onto a peninsula fairway, with a horseshoe-shaped lake around, and an approach shot over it to reach its wide green, at the bottom of a big elongated hill. On the right dogleg par-5 14th hole, you will need to hit a blind tee shot over trees and bushes to reach the undulating fairway (and its two big elongated lakes on both sides), and a long second shot to the green, with a few bushes, not far from it in front and an elongated bunker on the left, before moving on to the par-4 15th, downhill all the way with colorful trees lined up on the right of the undulating fairway, set above the lake on the left. Two of the last three holes are superb too : on the par-3 16th, you will need to hit a blind tee shot over a small but deep... crater, with a big... tree in the middle (with high rough around) before seeing the green (and the big mountain behind), whereas, on the left dogleg par-4 18th, downhill all the way, you will hit another blind tee shot over plenty of high rough and bushes (while making sure to avoid a big elongated lake on the left), before aiming for the green, with its nice red flowers and big clubhouse behind. Needless to say, this Arnside Lakes course is another beauty from Jimbo63 and, even though I did not play his previous version, I am surprised to see that very few players have downloaded this one ! Usually, an updated version is better than the original, given the new designing tools available and the greater experience acquired since...
