Quite impressive start for a first timer ! This par 72, without being spectacular visually, is well designed and is a little tougher than it looks, with a few risk/reward holes and some water hazards. On the front 9, I like the par-4 2nd hole with the little creek running across near the green (with a few trees in the way), the nice par-3 3rd, with its crescent-shaped creek flowing from the tee box all the way to the green, and the sharp dogleg to the right par-5 4th hole where, with an uphill second shot over a small creek, you won't be able to reach the green and where you will, at best, settle for a birdie. While the straight par-4 5th hole has a very narrow fairway and the par-3 6th, an elevated green and nice flowers behind it, I like the right dogleg par-4 7th hole, with its sloped and downhill fairway in the corner, and the right dogleg par-5 9th, with a creek running along the right side all the way to the green. Coming back, after a few nice doglegs, my favorite hole and the most scenic on this course, is the par-3 16th, gorgeous with its tiny peninsula green in the middle of a wide lake. As for the right dogleg par-5 18th hole, it is no gimme either as you can forget about gettting an eagle with a very long approach shot to the green, partially hidden by trees... For his first course, Old Pucker did a great job and, despite the rather bare surroundings, you will have a good time and a good challenge playing at the 5 Mile Crick GC !

This course is an absolute joy to play. It's unbelievable that this is your first course. This is the work of a tenured course maker! Played this on TS/Exp with no aim arrow mod; feet slider at left/middle/right only and shot a +7 for 9 holes. Quite the challenge! Hopefully we'll get to enjoy more from you.

Nice to see a new designer here this one is so good for first course runs smooth and looks beautiful..only snag I found it very hard could not read approach shots well and greens tough...got to 16 and then got a hole in one..haha so mixed feelings..not keen on tree hazards interfering with tees thats just me..but a keeper and wait for next course.

Thanks Keith---Actually this course looks like something that a veteran course designer would have produced and not a man who is putting his first up in CDL. I truly enjoyed the experience of playing your course Keith and since your first one is so good I can hardly wait for the next one. MDM3673

As Ferety says, "well I am impressed". A great test even for the best of golfers. There is plenty of variety with some risk/reward holes. A great layout with a real course feel. Keep up the good work Keith. Can't wait your next course.

The way we are playing here you might want to throw the clubs in the lake. If you throw the clubs in the lake, you might miss the lake.
No course in the works: retired. |
