Following my previous comments, here is an updated version after playing with TW08 and really enjoying my round, this time, with water finally looking like... water ! On the front 9, I forgot to mention the nice par-3 3rd hole, with its elongated small lake on the right of the green, and the dogleg par-4 6th, with a tee shot along a lake on the left, whereas, on the way back, the last three-hole finishing stretch is beautiful. My favorite hole is the right dogleg par-4 16th, quite short (around 350 yards) but pretty tough, with a very narrow fairway in the middle, with tall trees in the right corner (hiding a very wide bunker behind) and an elongated lake on the left (and not the other way around as I wrote it earlier, ha, ha !), "forcing" you to play it safe and hit your tee shot, way to the left... The par-3 17th hole is very pretty too, with its tee shot over an elongated lake, just like the right dogleg par-5 18th with its fairway hugging the lake on the right all the way to the green, quite hard to reach on your long second shot. With plenty of water, elongated and (often) wide bunkers, this CGX TPC Louisiana course is another great addition to my collection and I am glad that I played it again !

Here is another beautiful course from the CGX team which made me frustrated as water appeared grainy and... brownish or yellow on my PC ! Not being a computer expert, I still can't figure out why some CGX courses look very nice with water almost normal (at least by TW07 standards !) and other don't (water grey or yellow)... Anyway, this displaying bug aside, this par-72 looks very nice and spacious with (very) wide bunkers, high, and sometimes, lone trees in the way of your shots and plenty of water. On the front 9, I like the par-5 2nd hole with its narrow fairway at the beginning, the par-4 4th with its tee shot over the water and the dogleg to the right par-5 7th, and the scenic par-4 9th with its view of the clubhouse and the flag very close to the water. The back 9 is more scenic and has some beautiful holes, starting with the par-5 11th, a dogleg to the left with a very wide bunker on the left side near the tee and a... lone tree right in the middle of the fairway near the green ! Speaking of a lone tree, you will see another one on the fairway of the dogleg to the left par-4 13th hole near some wide bunkers. While the overview as you reach the green of the par-3 14th hole is nice, I prefer the tougher par-4 16th, slightly curving to the right, with its narrow fairway with bunkers on the left side and water on the right. The par-3 17th hole is pretty too, this time with a lone tree in the middle... of the lake whereas the par-5 18th hole has a nice approach shot to the green. Not overly difficult, but very nice visually, this course is a definite keeper for me and I am glad that I played at Avondale, in the suburbs of New Orleans !

Another top-shelf CGX classic. The layout is a gem too, with more than a few strains of Sawgrass to be found, especially in the run of par 4's on the front, and again with two brutal par 4's on the back. The course really comes alive at the 9th, a ripper par 3, typical of Dye (and repeated at 17) and then onto a fantastic back 9. The 11th is a great par 5, the 13th a quirky little dogleg par 4, and the unique 16th is just brilliant - if there's a signature hole on this course I would guess that's it. I wasn't immediately bowled over but ended up loving the course by the end, and the quality of the design is outstanding. Cheers!

Excellent course. Miss fairway and lots of big ole mature trees to contend with. Try to get greedy on this course and you will find water. Played along with PGA at Zurich Classic. Shot 64,64,72,74. Really a very well done design . Thank you for sharing.
