Very nice snow-capped mountain panorama with a mixture of grass and snow around the fairways and greens, giving this course a wintery touch without being completely blanketed with snow like the gorgeous Laurentian Hills Winter Course, designed by Quietly.
This par 72 has some nice holes (par-4 1st, par-5 3rd, par-4 4th hole, the scenic par-3 5th hole, with a creek running along the left side of the fairway and then twisting halfway around the green), but I slowly lost touch with reality after completing the par-4 7th, a straighforward hole with an island green and a bunker right in the middle (!), and frozen water around.
I know that this is supposed to be a fantasy course, but I found the par-5 9th hole, totally unrealistic with a huge plateau in the middle of the fairway (with a big icy pond in the middle), making it almost impossible to go around it without landing in the high rough. But the worst part was that I ended up right in front of it... and was able to hit my second shot through and, again, through icy walls further down !
Needless to say, from that point on, I knew this course was not for me. I did finish it and the next few holes (11th through 15th) have very icy (?) walls all around and some are quite nice, but the "icing on the cake" was the par-4 16th hole where, on my second shot, my ball went through the remains of a castle !
I have played a few other Cello courses before and knew what to expect, design-wise, but this course, despite its nice scenery, at times, and its "local" Black Forest touch, with three castles on the last three holes, needs some major work before being recommended...
