Third and final (?) course, designed by SJM, Twin Waters is in line with his first two, with another gorgeous panorama (volcanic mountains and cascades), a very nice (and blue) ocean, lots of palm trees, creeks, lakes and your usual amount of bunkers. With breathtaking views and nice plantings, this par 72 is delightful to play and watch but it is not an easy course, especially on the back 9 with plenty of greens, hidden by vegetation, with water around. The first few holes are quite scenic : the left dogleg par-4 1st has mountains (and a waterfall in the middle) facing the tee area and a big pond across near the green, surrounded by plenty of sand, with palm trees in the way of your approach shot, whereas the dogleg par-5 2nd hole has a big lake on the left flowing across the fairway, with more sand around it. The straight par-3 3rd hole is gorgeous with nice flowers near the tee box, the waterfall as a backdrop and its green on the other bank of the lake, just like the right dogleg par-4 4th with plenty of colorful bushes between the end of the fairway (in the right corner) and the elevated green, with a big bunker across in front, and a lake behind. AFter the left dogleg par-5 5th hole, slightly downhill all the way to the green with water in the middle, the par-3 6th, with a tee shot over the lake and some beautiful flowerbeds in front of the slightly elevated green, is simply superb... Getting through to the green of the left dogleg par-5 7th hole will not be as easy as it looks, with a few palm trees standing in front of the green and water below, unlike on the left dogleg par-4 8th, where the green is close to the lake on the right with an elongated bunker to watch for. As for the sharp dogleg to the right par-5 9th hole, you will have to be very careful with your tee shot to avoid landing in the lake on the left or hitting the trees or the rocky mound of the right, before trying to reach the green with a very long and tough approach shot. Coming back won't be a piece of cake either with plenty of scenic, but challenging holes, starting with the par-4 11th hole, with a tee shot over the wide lake with a few palm trees on the edge of the fairway, and a big pond across near the green, and continuing with the par-3 12th hole, similar to the 11th, but with a tough tee shot through the palm trees to try to reach the green. The scenery then changes on the par-5 13th hole, with palm trees on both sides of the fairway, twisting left, then right, and a peninsula green far away, surrounded by water, almost all around : a tough but nice hole, quite different from the "scary", but gorgeous, par-3 14th hole, one of my favorites, where all you see from the tee box are water in front and palm trees on a small hillside on the right, and more palm trees in front with no green in sight : simply a spectacular hole ! The last four holes are outstanding too : the left dogleg par-4 15th has a lake on the right with three small peninsulas "poking out" on the left, with the green on the second one, the par-4 16th, slightly to the right, has three small ponds near the elevated green, whereas the par-3 17th hole, quite straight, has a green hard to distinguish between the palm trees and the meandering creek... And, finally, don't think you will off the hook with the right dogleg par-5 18th hole : after hitting a tough tee shot over two small ponds and a big sand trap across the fairway, you will have sweaty palms trying to reach the green with high rough, plenty of bushes and a meandering creek in between ! Playing all three courses in a row from SJM was quite an enjoyable experience as I was able to see his progress : after a great start with Billabongs, and a superb Mountain High course, Twin Waters confirms that he is one of the best designers around...

I shot a 74 and Tiger finished with a 82. After a bogey on every hole on the back nine, Tiger said he wouldn't play this course anymore.

Just played a few holes, but very smooth on my laptop, fine scenery, very good layouts, challenging but enjoyable greens. Overall really superb course this is. Became my favourite, instantly. Thanks for sharing a gem.
