After the Blue Hills Country Club, designed by yougolf 4, I decided to play another one of his courses, and had quite a challenge on my hands with this very hilly par 72, with plenty of dogleg holes, narrow tree-lined fairways, undulating and elevated greens, not to mention a few water hazards to deal with. After starting with two dogleg par-4 holes (to the left on the 1st, with a tree-lined fairway and elevated green, and up-and-down to the right on the 2nd), you will face the very long right dogleg par-5 3rd hole, surrounded by big hills, and quite challenging with a river running to the right, then ending into a wide lake in front of the fairway, 2/3rd of the way (with a big rock in the middle), forcing you to make a tough decision if you want to go for the green (pretty far) or play it safe by laying up on your second shot. You will then need to hit a steep tee shot to reach the green of the scenic par-3 4th hole, set on a very high rocky plateau, before hitting a steeply… downhill tee shot over some trees on the par-4 5th, to reach its fairway before aiming your approach toward the elevated green. Another downhill slope awaits you on the par-3 7th hole, with a blind tee shot over high bushes landing onto a very narrow green, before heading later on to the nice, but very long (more than 600 yards) left dogleg par-5 9th hole, with a few trees and shrubs in the middle of the fairway, leaving you with hardly any chance of reaching its elevated green on your second shot and seeing the beautiful mansion/clubhouse behind. You will start your way back with another par-5 hole, a left dogleg, with a really tough second shot toward the elevated green, partially hidden by a lone tree (next to a big lake on the right) and halfway surrounded by four bunkers. On the right dogleg par-4 11th hole, you will face more trees surrounded by shrubs in the middle of the fairway (around the corner), making your tee shot crucial if you don’t want to end up in deep trouble, before hitting your approach downward to the narrow green, then walk over to the left dogleg par-4 12th, with a tee shot landing next to a big hill (in the left corner) and a green, surrounded by more hills further behind. Then, after playing the right dogleg par-4 14th hole, with a fairway hugging a big hill on the left and a very undulating green (whose line is hard to read), you will head on to the pretty left dogleg par-4 15th, with a blind and challenging uphill approach over a lake to reach its elevated green, before facing another dogleg, the par-4 16th, bending to the right, with a very narrow fairway, midway, trees and shrubs in the middle and bunkers on both sides, and a downhill green. Another standout hole is the gorgeous par-3 17th, with a very steep and blind tee shot over a rocky plateau to reach the green, surrounded by more big hills, before finishing with another tough hole, the left dogleg par-5 18th, with a steeply-downhill and blind tee shot landing (again !) near some shrubs in the middle of the fairway, making it crucial to choose the right club off the tee box if you want to have a decent view of the last green. Tougher and prettier than his Blue Hills course, you will have to do a lot of thinking before hitting your shots on this Bushwood Golf Club, if you want to finish with a decent scorecard. As for the “scaled” textures used for the hills, I let you be the judge...

I think any player that says they play Real designs only should give this course a try. Fantasy does not do this design justice. If anyone has ever played in Northern Illinois, they have played on a course with lots of tree-lined fairways. This is one of the nicest courses I have played and it is definitely a keeper. TYVM and keep them coming.

A veritable forest, what a challenge in strong winds navigating around or over all those trees although the mini forest patches in the fairways on the back 9 felt excessive to me, may have liked them better with them spread out over the entire course.

Enjoyed this course. I like the approach to the green on the 3rd hole. Looks and plays like a real course.
