In my everlasting quest to find some hidden gems, here is a superb course to play for those of you who like wide-open space, nice views, elevation changes, beautiful plantings, high rough and a few water hazards. This par 70 is a pure delight to play and watch and it starts right off the bat with the left dogleg par-5 1st hole, with a lake on the left side, nice colorful flowers everywhere, plenty of high rough, and trees partially hiding the green, making your approach shot quite delicate. The long (more than 260 yards) par-3 2nd hole is very nice too with deep rough on a small hill on the right, a lake on the left and the green, slightly downhill, just like the left dogleg par-4 3rd where, after hitting a blind tee shot over some high rough, you will see the nice green, surrounded by small mounds and beautiful flowers. After the right dogleg par-4 4th hole, quite short (about 340 yards), but with a green unreachable from the tee area because of trees in the corner, you will reach the very long and straight par-3 5th (about 305 yards !), where your blind tee shot over the high rough will allow you to admire all the gorgeous blue flowers planted all along... The right dogleg par-4 6th hole, with an uphill tee shot and nice white flowers around the fairway has a gorgeous overview of the lake as you reach the green, but the long (more than 530 yards !) and straight par-4 9th hole is even nicer, with shots over the water twice before reaching the narrow fairway, with high rough and a big bunker in front of it... and more water behind. If you think you will be off the hook after the front 9... think again ! The par-3 10th hole, my favorite, is simply awesome and gorgeous with its downhill island green and panoramic view and is quite scary too, as it is almost... 300 yards away ! The short (about 315 yards) par-4 12th hole, slightly to the right, is another risk/reward hole where a few strategically-placed trees might stop you from trying to reach the green, unlike the left dogleg par-5 14th hole, where you should have a good shot at an eagle opportunity ; if not, you will have another eagle chance at the short (less than 500 yards) par-5 16th hole, slightly bending to the right. Last, but not least, the long (more than 260 yards) par-3 17th hole is beautiful too, with a big slope on the right side and the lake below, and a couple of trees, partially hiding the green, making the par-4 18th hole look easy in comparison with its tee shot over the very high rough before discovering a wide-open view of the green, slightly to the right, far away... With plenty of high rough all around the course, beautiful white and blue flowers, and some very long and challenging par-3 and par-4 holes, Blue Lake Golf Resort ranks as one of the best courses to keep and all I can say is "(Cowboy) hats off to you, M. Cowboy34" for your wonderful work !

Competitive and wonderful course. This cowboy has some other skills than driving horses only. Where have you been Cowboy34? I'm looking forward to more of these beauties! I'm fond of courses like this one.....

This course is not as easy as the overheads for the holes seem to make it look - there's a lot more going on when you're on the ground & in the thick of it. Quite a change having some long par 3s & 4s, too. A successful debut...

Very good looking course.I liked the long challenging par 3's,will be tough in gusty or strong head winds but then again this course is not made for gusty or strong.Good contrasting textures used-between deep rough and fairway etc.Very good job if this is really your 1st design.Keep them coming....

I played with two other expert players & the course is fine for most other levels but I found the W key a bit slow, which is necessary for in expert for all the dog legs & holes where you can not hit driver. The green textures were great, easy to read without grids.

I found this to be a pretty and tough course. Nice undulations and use of long grass. Many holes are pretty tight. A few very undulating greens. I would not want to play number 10 in real life. An enjoyable fun course. My congratulations to the architect.
