Nice little course, without any flowers and, hardly any bushes, but rather pretty with that famous Laurel ridge (hilly) panorama, wide and (often) undulated and/or slanted fairways (just like the greens !), and with a few water hazards on the back 9. Holes worth mentioning on the front 9 are the two par-4 left doglegs, the 1st, with an uphill tee shot, an undulated fairway and a downhill second shot to the green, and the 4th, with a slightly-downhill tee shot over some trees in the corner and an uphill shot to the elevated green. I also like the par-3 5th hole, with a tee shot over a creek running diagonally across the fairway (from the left) and its three small bunkers to the right of the green, the right dogleg par-4 7th, with a slightly-downhill fairway, split by a small creek in the middle, and a blind approach to the downhill green, and the left dogleg par-4 9th, uphill all the way with a nice mansion behind the green. Then, after seeing your first bushes on the straight and downhill par-4 11th hole (on both sides of the tee box), you will reach my two favorite holes, the dogleg par-5 12th, with a tee shot over a wide lake (on the left) and a long and uphill approach shot to the elevated green, and the other left dogleg, the par-4 13th hole, with a tee shot over the edge of the lake, and a second shot over a small creek (ending in the lake) midway, to the green. A few more bushes “stand” in the way (and across the slanted fairway), not far from the green, on the short (about 325 yards) and uphill par-4 15th hole, unlike on the downhill par-3 16th, quite nice with its panoramic view as you reach the green. Overall, this par 70 Kern River Golf Club is a very enjoyable course, with its beautiful cypress trees and wide open views all along and, with its small elevation changes and tricky greens, it will give you quite a few challenges, thanks to ron717’s nice design.

The view from the first tee evokes a feeling of relaxed tranquility, which flows on with the approach shot to the green & then you're brought down to earth with a thud! There's no relaxing on these greens & if you haven't put your approach shot within gimme distance, it's an uphill struggle (I've heard that somewhere). A contrasting mix you've blended superbly, Ron...

Another nice course Ron.,good to see a bit of undulation at the business end of the holes. Still playing many of your courses on a regular basis. Keep up the good work.

Very pretty and challenging course. With a fair amount of cypress trees it has a California feel to it. Great pano. Greens undulate a lot and are fun to putt. Great job!

Excellent design with some great sweeping dog legs. Cannot speak highly enough of this designer. Enjoyed the walk.
