Welcome to Bolinwood or should I say Bunkerland ? If this par 72 looks nice and wide open, you will have to be very precise with your shots, especially around the (often elevated) greens, if you don’t want to keep using your bucket and spade to get out of those wide and deep bunkers all around. If you don’t believe me, the risk/reward short (about 320 yards) left dogleg par-4 hole will convince you with 11 (!) wide bunkers spread along the fairway and around its elevated green. Another elevated green awaits you on the par-3 3rd hole, quite pretty with red and yellow flowers halfway around, before moving on to the right dogleg par-5 5th, quite challenging and where you will have to hit a downhill tee shot landing near three wide bunkers (splitting the fairway across, midway), before firing a long approach around a lone tree in the middle toward the elevated green, surrounded by five more bunkers. Then, after "taking a break" on the right dogleg par-4 6th hole, with no bunker really close to the green, and the right dogleg par-5 7th, with a downhill tee shot over colorful flowerbeds and an uphill approach to the green (with more bunkers around), you will face the pretty downhill par-3 8th hole, with a big pond right in front of the green, surrounded by five more bunkers in the back (but slightly above), before finishing with the left dogleg par-4 9th, with three wide bunkers across on the slope of the tiered-fairway (around the corner) and a blind uphill approach to the green, with the clubhouse behind. On the back 9, after the left dogleg par-4 11th hole, sharply bending to the left, the par-5 13th is beautiful and challenging, with a slightly-downhill tee shot landing onto a narrow fairway (with a big lake on the left and five big bunkers along on the right), and an elevated green, slightly to the right and hard to reach with four bunkers around, in front. You will face that big lake again on the downhill par-3 14th hole, with its green, next to it on the right, before moving later on to the nice right dogleg par-4 16th, with a steeply-downhill tee shot landing near a wide area filled with deep rough (on the right) and a steeply-uphill and blind tee shot toward the green, partially hidden by trees on the right. You will finish with the pretty par-3 17th hole, downhill to the green, but quite risky with bunkers in front and the lake behind, before walking to the very picturesque right dogleg par-4 18th, and its huge and very pretty crossed sword flowerbeds, halfway, and its nice uphill approach to the green, with three more bunkers in front and the clubhouse behind. Needless to say, your challenge on this well-designed Bolinwood Knight course, will be to avoid all those bunkers ; if you do, you will then be rewarded with a nice scorecard as the greens are (thankfully) quite wide (for the most part), leaving you with good birdie opportunities to feel like a king at the end of your round. Until then, I wish you good luck and good... (k)night !

Good layout with good greens, I play very dry mostly and nothing rolling out of hand. Loved the crossed sword flower bed at the club house. Keep up the good work, Looking forward to your next!
Thanks, Rick
