As I am running down again the list of real courses (still left to play – very few in fact !), I stumbled upon this one where I experienced big bugs with TW07, six months ago (as mentioned below). So, I gave it another chance with TW08 and I am happy to say that, this time, this Sebonack Golf Club passed the... crash test ! Not only this gorgeous par 72 ran very smoothly but I had a ball, discovering the whole course the way I should have seen it the first time around... Besides all my previous comments, I really enjoyed the nice uphill and short par-4 1st hole, with a blind tee shot in the direction of the green and the ocean behind and the par-4 2nd, with plenty of wide bunkers, mostly on the right, with another blind tee shot over deep rough downward and an uphill approach to the green. But after some more scenic holes, my favorites are definitely the beautiful par-3 8th, with a tee shot over a wide lake landing onto a small green, and the right dogleg par-5 9th hole, uphill all the way, with a gorgeous serpentine road all along on the right (with some nice townhouses next to it) and a spectacular area around the wide and pretty clubhouse (at the end of the road), with a very nice... parking lot (with street lamps and cars) and the name of the course, spelled out on the lawn in front : simply superb ! On the back 9, I liked the par-3 12th hole, with a slightly downhill tee shot over deep rough and three wide bunkers in front of the green, and the left dogleg par-5 13th, with a big pond in front (and on the right) of the green, with three more bunkers in front. Then, after the par-4 14th hole, uphill all the way with wide bunkers, mostly on the right, and the very long (almost 620 yards) right dogleg par-5 15th, with a blind and slightly-downhill tee shot landing onto a wide fairway (and a third shot toward the elevated green), you will face the scenic par-3 17th hole, with a tee shot over plenty of deep rough, before finishing with the par-5 18th, above the ocean (on the left), with a downhill tee shot and a long uphill second shot to try to reach the green ! Superbly designed by JJHold, this Sebonack Golf Club is a top shelf course and a tough one too, with subtle elevation changes, undulating fairways (and a few greens) and quite a few wide and (often) deep bunkers to watch for, not to mention a few water hazards to keep you on your toes. So, hurry to pack your old jerseys on your way to Southampton... New Jersey !

Superb design, looks really sweet and plays beautifully (no issues here). The course is a genuine challenge throughout, particularly the front 9 which I found the tougher. Crafty bunker placements, tricky approaches and undulating greens keep you on your toes but good shots are well rewarded - it has a beautiful balance. An expertly built course and a real joy to play. Cheers!

I was on my way to giving this course a masterpiece label until it crashed twice : the first time at the 11th hole, and after I restarted the game, again as I was ready to tee off at the 16th and saw some weird video display ! I guess I am joining the club of a few others who had similar problems... (see comments below), even though I am playing with TW07. It's too bad because this is the first time since I have been playing this game that I saw such beautiful hole signs next to the tee areas, showing the hole number, the par and the yardage ! As for the course itself, it is simply gorgeous with incredible plantings, very high rough, beautiful landscape, lots of bunkers and a great variety of shots and holes. From what I briefly saw, my favorite hole on the front 9 was the par-5 9th hole with the... road passing through the fairway and with a very tough second shot to try to reach the green, hidden by trees. For those lucky enough to reach the 18th green, I envy you : in the meantime, once I finished reviewing all the real courses (in a few... months !), I will try again to play it. Who knows ? Maybe, by then, an updated version will be availabe...

Video was all screwed after 1st hole. Had to ditch it. Could be my rig but never did this on any other courses.

this course still crashes on me but i am still playing it. I'm kinda using it as a benchmark to judge other courses along with a few other designers courses, and also from the biggest complaints thread on this site. This course fits what i am calling top of the line courses. No gaps between pano and plot. No hole to close the the edge of the plot. Plot completely fill so no big open space outside the course itself. Greens that are raised or at least fair with no rollback. Fairways that are smooth with no creases. Bunkers with nice shapes with lips. water that is flatten and also flat tee boxes. A course where all the textures blend together, courses that has more than just trees but also bushes and plants. This course covers all that plus reaches out and adds a lot more with clubhouse parking lot with cars and street lamps. Lots of time and detail was taken to build this course. also one of the few course where a ocean water textures was use that was at the right distance as not to have that pattern look to it. this is one few courses that is a stand out above all the rest....thanks for all the hard work its taken to make such a nice course to play and enjoy....

Always nice to switch on the computer, read the course comments and have a nice course to download. What makes this course so good is the plethora of bunkers., the good elevation work that adds interest to the course.,the juxtaposition of the different colored grasses.,the really good road that is well set into the landscape. Five stars from me.

Thanks guys for the great comments...Dennis...not sure why it is doing that....I tested the final version at least 30 times and it worked fine, I had other friends try it and they had same results of no issues...however, I always take a test spin on practice mode before I test on lan, I have found that sometimes courses crash if the first time you try it you play it on lan mode...no idea why, but I have seen that with my and other designs...but I am sorry it is crashing for some :( all I can suggest is trying it in practice or custom before lan, and maybe turn the game settings down? Again sorry for the issues are few are having, and thanks for the great comments :)

A true 'Classic'. This course deserves a Milky Way of stars. There are not enough words to describe this wonderful design. PhilT described it best in one word 'Brilliant'. Jamie, you nalied it. Hoorah!!!

You have to bring your "A" game and bucket and spade to this place. A very testing layout. Well designed and a pleasure to play. The club house has a nice outside area to have a short one after the round. Enjoyed the walk.
