Well, I finally got around to playing this course with TW08 and, needless to say, it looks like another beauty in the line of the Blackadder series ! This links course has a nice ocean to look at, plenty of deep rough, a few well-placed (pot) bunkers and quite a few challenging holes, mainly along the coastline on the front 9 and inland and, mostly uphill, on the way back. After the nice opening par-4 hole, straight and slightly-uphill, I like the pretty par-3 2nd, with deep rough between the tee box and the elevated green (with a nice view of the hotel/clubhouse, further back on the left), and the straight and uphill par-5 3rd hole, facing the ocean. The scenery then changes, starting with the left dogleg par-4 4th hole, along the sandy beach, with a slightly-downhill tee shot landing near some pot bunkers, midway, and a slightly-uphill approach to the sloped green, and continuing with the cute downhill par-3 5th, facing the ocean again, with a tee shot over deep rough and along small mounds on the left side ending right behind the green. The dogleg par-5 6th hole looks pretty too as it is sharply to the left along the sandy beach, with an elevated green, set on a rocky cliff, and is followed by the short right dogleg par-4 7th, along the cliff on the left and with the green, at the edge above the ocean. You will breathe more fresh air, while listening to the sound of the crashing waves, on the straight par-4 8th hole, with a downhill tee shot over the beach (mostly on the left), before finishing the front 9 with the par-3 9th hole, and its nice panoramic view of the ocean as you reach its elevated green.. Then, after moving inland on the nice left dogleg par-4 10th hole, uphill all the way, with a blind tee shot around some deep rough and high mounds on the left of the undulating fairway, you will face the very picturesque right dogleg par-5 11th, with an uphill tee shot landing near the ocean and a long and challenging second shot over the sandy beach to try to reach the green. The following left dogleg par-4 12th hole is short, but reaching its elevated green is close to impossible, with a very wide and elongated bunker (with patches of grass in the middle), right in front of it, unlike on the straight par-5 13th, uphill all the way, where you might have an eagle opportunity if you can avoid the three small bunkers in front of the green. After enjoying the steeply-uphill par-3 14th hole, with a narrow fairway and a beautiful panoramic view as you reach the green, you will move back inland with the uphill right dogleg par-4 15th, with a downhill tee shot and a slightly-elevated green, and the left dogleg par-4 16th hole, uphill all the way, with a blind approach to the green. Then, after the right dogleg par-4 17th hole, with a blind and slightly-downhill second shot to the green (with the ocean further behind), you will conclude with the beautiful right dogleg par-5 18th, with a fairway hugging the coastline all along on the left and a very long uphill approach to the green, with a pretty hotel/clubhouse to gaze at behind the tiered green. Well-designed and fun to play, this Blackadder G.C. Links fantasy course will offer you another treat and I will definitely add it to my collection, as it looks... so real !

Unfortunately for me, I am unable to rate this course as the horizon moves up and down on almost all the holes ! Obviously, since players below had no problem whatsoever, this par 73 must not be compatible with TW07, which is a "shame" as it seemed to look nice... Let's hope I will have better luck on The Palms, the last of the four Blackadder courses, nicely done by J&M Design.

Great course, Nice wide open layout, Get away from the fairways and its challenging to get out and the greens are tricky. Well done!

Agree with evreryone else here and I always like that gorse bush texture that not many use, plus its deadly accurate and not easy to get out of either! one thing for me i only really noticed the bird and sea sounds on hole 18! was it around the course? as I did not notice I was enjoying the course that much. in fact I did not realise I was on hole 18! I was enjoying it that much I felt deflated when it ended.

Thanks for comments guys, unfortunately there isnt much we can do about water Scully. It would look great as a pond texture, but an area so large would cause problems. Its possible to make the water close to land a pond texture and the rest ocean, but then you get a colour change. Its a trade off between looks and playability I'm afraid. Slight problem with Palsm prevented its upload with this one, corrected version has been uploaded.

An outstanding addition to anyones ones library. If you like links courses, and I do, your gonna love this design. As the previous poster noted 'this is probably the best of the Blackadder designs so far', a statement I heartly endorse. There are so many bells and whistles to this layout it's hard to decide where to begin. The par 3 #2nd hole, the par 4 #4th and the kewl par 5 #5th....and the thrills just keep going. Greens are nothing short of outstanding IMHO. The only thing I didnt like about this wonderful design is the water, an issue that seems to be prevelant in many course designs. That was the only blip that kept me from giving this a full 5****. Is the Palms couse soon to follow? I certainly hope so. Just a great effort...BRAVO

What a desolate piece of turf, but in saying that this is probably the best of the Blackadder designs so far. Some very testing holes which you must hit the fairways. Very much Troon like. Excellent design, well done & look forward to many more of this calibre.
