"Yes, he can" ! As Tripel43 pointed out... 11 years ago (!), Cello can indeed design eye-pleasing and playable courses, once in a while, and this par 72 is a good example. Despite a few holes which reminded me of his Hills & Hollows course, I really had fun playing this one, starting with the first two holes, the par-4 1st, with a downhill Tee shot over a big pond, across the fairway, midway, and its tiny elevated green (with a crescent-shaped bunker on the right), and the par-3 2nd, with an uphill tee shot over that pond again. Another (blind) tee shot over a pond (surrounded by a small fence) awaits you on the left dogleg par-5 3rd hole, with an downward approach to the island green (with nice flowers around), before walking over to the right dogleg par-4 4th, uphill with a second shot over a deep lake flowing diagonally along on the right and ending next to the green, set to the left. I also liked the par-5 6th hole, an uphill right dogleg with an elongated bunker across the fairway in the corner, and 2 elongated bunkers framing the green, and the other right dogleg par-4 7th, with its narrow fairway and downhill green in the middle of a small basin. The back 9 is more challenging and has more water hazards to deal with, such as on the right dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a downhill tee shot landing short of a meandering river (flowing to the left and past the green), and the very scenic par-3 11th, with its island and sloped green, with a bunker in front and trees forming a small hedge behind. On the left dogleg par-5 12th hole, uphill all the way, you will have to hit your tee shot over the lake of the 11th hole, whereas, on the par-3 13th, a blind tee downward is needed to reach the peninsula green at the bottom of another wide basin. The finishing stretch is quite tough, starting with the par-4 14th hole where, after a blind and downhill tee shot landing onto a multi-tiered fairway, you will need to hit your approach shot over the water to reach the steeply elevated star-shaped green, set on a rocky mound over the serpentine river... The par-5 15th hole will provide more excitement for you, with a head-scratching decision (club-wise) to make as you get ready to tee off, with 2 small rocky walls, crossing the fairway in a step-like fashion, a few yards apart, midway, followed by a long blind shot over the second wall to reach the elevated green. The par-3 16th hole, while being pretty, is not a piece of cake either, with a tee shot flying above a rocky mound on the left and a small meandering canyon filled with water to reach the green (set above on a rocky hilltop), just like the par-4 17th, with another uphill tee shot landing short of the meandering water-filled canyon, splitting the fairway, and over which you will have to hit your approach toward the green. Fortunately, you should have an eagle opportunity on the short par-5 18th hole, if you can manage to hit your blind and downhill approach to its scenic island green, guarded by a small elongated bunker in front. Well-designed, fun to play and quite colorful, this Hollacombe Vale course might "reconcile" you with Cello, who came up with this nice and imaginative layout...

Dear Cello! What happended to you? A course so sweet and PLAYABLE TOO! Hole 16 was a difficult one. Can you tell me what the annual contribution for this course is? At least a 100 gardeners, earning a huge amount of money together, are needed to keep all the flowers in good condition. So I fear I can affort playing this course only one time. Thank you for your nice work!

LOL PhilT i think holes 14 & 15 just look alot toughter than they realy are , on 14 i usualy take the middle fairway myself but all 3 will give acsess to the green np & 15 is just all about the drive up to the top ..i TS & can reach so a clicker will have np getting up there , the 2 lower fairways will give acsess to green but you need to not get in too deep, also remember hole 15 is a par 5 ! But ty for your comments PhilT & your rating .. i may turn the ratings on now lol ...I dont want to make things too eay for you all, if every thing was dead flat you would be very board by now :) Thanks again PhilT :)

superb course brilliantly made but for me it went pear shaped from hole 15 onwards, i looked at hole 14 OMG but it was okay after that i died if a course with cello attached to it i seem to have a mental block and i am not good enough to get around them soory for my text but my keyboard shift key is not working 5 star rating for this one, but there may be some holes unplayable...not sure...others may judge that better than me
