Well, it’s nice to play, “once upon a time in the West”… as Sergio Leone would say ! Just like the East course, this par 72 is pretty to look at and, with quite a few blind and slightly-uphill (or downhill) tee shots, you will be tested, especially on the back 9, quite scenic and different from the early holes, with some very narrow fairways and, once again, a gorgeous 3-hole finishing stretch. You will start your round with the nice and long left dogleg par-5 1st hole, with a blind tee shot over deep rough (with trees on both sides) and a tough approach over trees toward the green (with four bunkers lined up on the left, in front), before heading for the nice par-3 3rd, where you will need to hit a blind tee shot over some big bushes and a few trees to reach the green, while avoiding three bunkers in front. Then, after the long (602 yards) right dogleg par-5 4th hole, with a downward tee shot landing onto a wide fairway and an elevated green (hard to reach on your second shot), and the straight par-4 5th, slightly downhill all the way to the green, with a blind tee shot and a wide fairway with an elongated pond (further to the left), you will face the par-4 6th hole, slightly to the left (with an elongated lake on the far left) and with an undulating fairway and a slightly-elevated green. The par-4 8th hole is also nice, with a tee shot across a creek (ending in a big pond on the left) and a slightly-downhill approach to the green, slightly to the left (and next to the ocean), just like the short (346 yards) par-4 9th, downhill all the way to the green, with a fairway next to the ocean on the right. The scenery then changes drastically on the back 9, with the pretty par-3 10th hole and its very narrow shot between trees over deep rough (with an elongated lake on the far left), and on the par-5 11th, with a tee shot (hopefully) landing onto a very narrow fairway, between three bunkers (midway on the left), and a creek running all along on the right, and a very difficult approach to the green, with more bunkers in front. After hitting another narrow tee shot between trees (and over more deep rough) on the right dogleg par-4 12th hole, then moving on to the right dogleg par-4 13th, slightly uphill all the way with a tee shot over a small creek and a blind shot to the green, you will have... a ball playing the last few holes, especially the last three. On the dogleg par-5 14th hole, you will need to hit a blind and slightly-uphill tee shot before trying to reach the green, slightly downhill (to the left) in order to enjoy a nice view of the Maderas clubhouse and the small parking lot, on the right, not far from the ocean. If the par-3 15th hole is not too difficult, it has a gorgeous panoramic view as you reach the green, with the ocean, on the far right, and beautiful villas, lined up on the left (with... individual swimming pools !), just like the left dogleg par-4 16th, downhill all the way, with the villas, even closer on the left of the fairway, split by bushes midway, and with a blind approach over them to reach the green. The last par-3 hole, the 17th, is quite nice too with a blind and downhill tee shot over plenty of bushes and deep rough midway toward the green (with the ocean as a backdrop), and so is the left dogleg par-4 18th hole, downhill all the way with the ocean on the left and a nice panoramic view as you reach the green with the clubhouse behind. Overall, you will have to be careful with your shots on the back 9 if you don't want this West course to turn into the "wild, wild West" ! And if you do, then you will be... rewarded with a nice scorecard on this well-designed beauty by Jimbo63 !

Wonderful design and course, loved it. It starts off benign enough, with some feelers and testers early, nothing to widen the eyes.. then you reach the coast and the real fun begins. A run of crackers through the turn, then winding back inland before returning again to the sea for a really smashing finish. The end result - an exhilarating experience and one tricky yet rewarding course. Awesome work Jimbo, nailed it, cheers!

As usual, Jimbo strikes again with this beautiful links course. A fantasy course, according to Jimbo, which I could hardly believe so I immediately went to Google to look for "Verdura" (Spanish for vegetable) and found amazing pictures of an Italian golf course called "Verdura golf and spa", situated near the town of Sciacca, lying on the south coast of Sicily (Italy). Jimbo, will you please be so kind to look at that, and I think you have a brand new idea for the next one in your series "The Great Courses of Jimbo"! To rate this course: more than a 4 and a bit less than a 5; great work!

Another great course Jimbo. Five stars again. On the eleventh hole lost my golfer in the bushes at the side of the stream, had to use the overhead camera to see the top of his head.

Actually they may not be fantasy courses?

Just beautiful Jim, lavish planting, great layouts, a lovely natural look to both courses. Probably your best fantasy courses yet?
