With plain green land between the layout and the small hills in the horizon, this par 71 is not the most breathtaking course you will ever see, but it plays smoothly with a front 9, nicer than the back 9. My favorite holes are the left dogleg par-4 1st, with high rough in front of the tee area and a river on the right side all the way to the green, the scenic, long (more than 260 yards) and straight par-3 3rd, with a horseshoe-shaped lake around the green, and the par-5 5th hole, with high rough across midway through and a green, slightly to the left. I also like the dogleg par-5 7th hole, slightly uphill, with a meandering creek crossing the fairway from the left side and running along to the right all the way to the green (with a big lake further to the right), and the downhill right dogleg par-4 9th, with the creek flowing to the left then across the fairway midway with some wide bunkers on both sides and near the green. The back 9 has a lot of doglegs with wide greens and smooth fairways and is not overly difficult, but it does have a gorgeous hole, the straight par-3 12th, with a tee shot over a wide lake with small cypresses around it and three huge bunkers around the green : simply superb ! Even though Sammy08 did a nice job with the plantings, Huron Oaks is not too challenging and I prefer some of his other courses, such as Crosswinds GC or Lakewood GC...

Another ripper original from this designer, and a very crafty layout. Took me most of the front 9 to realise it (slow joe that I am) but this course places high emphasis on shot placement and club selection. The par 3's are mostly long and demanding, placing particular stress on club choice. However it's not a long course in general, so most of the par 4's and 5's require smart shot placement esp. off the tee. Once I cottoned on to this and changed my approach I played much better on the back. It's a gorgeous track, as are all Sammy's designs, and plays smooth and realistic. The greens were a standout - subtly deceptive but fair. It's a real cracker this one, cheers!

Another excellent design from a talented designer. Some very tough and long par threes (but not unplayable). Enjoyed the journey and look forward too many more. Well done.

A decent course, for sure, but "a brilliant, 5 stars course" as suggested before? I saw many oaks, but where was Lake Huron? But Sammy, you certainly are a very talented designer... Thank you for your good work..
