First of all, to answer your... queries, this fantasy course has, indeed, plenty of... quarries, and you will need pretty accurate shots if you want to finish with a decent scorecard on this par 72, quite challenging with undulating fairways, a few water hazards (mostly on the back 9), some rocky hills, and those quarries mentioned above. After a nice opening par-4 hole, with a wide-open view from the tee box, an undulating fairway, a big bunker halfway on the left and a small... quarry on the right of the green, I like the very tough and short (less than 400 yards) left dogleg par-5 2nd, with a big rocky hill on the right, another smaller one on the left (in the middle), with a meandering lake behind, and a blind second shot over trees to try to reach the undulating green. The right dogleg par-4 3rd hole is one of my favorites, with a big lake on the right and an uphill and blind approach shot to an island green, surrounded by a deep and wide quarry, and is followed by the straight par-3 4th, with that wide quarry on the right side of the green... The right dogleg par-5 5th hole is quite scenic, with another big quarry on the right, a blind second shot over some rocks across the fairway, halfway, and an approach shot to the downhill green, with fences around the quarry, two pot bunkers in front of the green and a gorgeous view of a wide quarry behind with a big rocky hill in the middle and a little bit of water near it ! The right dogleg par-4 6th hole is quite scary with its fairway next to that big and deep quarry on the left, and tricky too, with its green, partially hidden by trees with a small bunker behind them, unlike the straight par-3 7th hole, with a little pond on the left side of the green. The final two holes on the front 9 have no quarries : the right dogleg par-4 8th has a big rocky hill in the corner on the right, and an uphill approach to the elevated green (with three big bunkers in front on the left), and the short (about 370 yards) and straight par-4 9th hole is uphill all the way, but with four big bunkers in front of the green. The back 9 starts with the easier, but scenic, left dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a big quarry on the left and a big elongated bunker (with patches of grass in it) on the left, not far from the elevated green, and the left dogleg par-4 11th, with a very deep quarry on the left and a big bunker all the way across in front of the green. Then, on the spectacular par-5 12th hole, you will need to hit a tee shot over a wide quarry (with some water below) in order to land on the other side of the wide and undulating fairway, before hitting a very long approach shot to try reach the elevated green, partially hidden by trees on the right. The straight par-3 13th hole is no pushover either, with a big wasteland in front of the green and a big bunker right on it, in the middle ! Another spectacular, but very challenging, hole is the left dogleg par-5 14th, with a wide and deep quarry on the left (with some water in it) and on the right, splitting the fairway halfway, leaving you with a tough approach shot to try to reach the “island” undulating fairway and its very narrow green ! The following right dogleg par-4 15th hole is gorgeous too, with a wide quarry on the left, fences around the deep quarry on the right (with a small lake) and a long and slightly-uphill approach shot to the... downhill narrow green, just like the straight par-4 16th, with a long approach shot over the wide quarry (with a small river below all the way across, but with a small pond right in front of the undulating green. Then, after the par-3 17th hole, superb with its peninsula green set on a small mound (with flowers and trees around) at the bottom of a deep quarry, you will finish with the very short (about 330 yards) and sharp left dogleg par-4 18th, around a big quarry on the left with an elevated green. SandSaver did a great job designing this Old Quarry Country Club and you will be tested all the way on this fantasy course which, despite a couple of "unreal" holes on the back 9, is very enjoyable and a definite keeper, as far as I am concerned...

Thanks for the compliments, all. Davy, I agree with you 100% about the rock textures being repetitive. The texture set I used, "Eton" has about 8 different rock textures in the set, but they all look somewhat similar. When you cover large areas of a course with grass, nobody notices the sameness, but rock seems to stand out, because it is so variable in real life. I don't really see a way around it easily, without building an enormous texture set and putting down a whole bunch of different textures to cover a rocky area.

Nice course....Play'd VD and calm . Enjoyable.... Have a course 8miles i play, That was made from a phosphate mining operation. Narrow fairways and very high canyon walls on alot of the holes. Keep up he fine work mike. ( The gators love the water hazards) so we stay out of those.

Enjoyed a round here tremendously. The Course itself is a good challenge, with some relief, but mostly needed to be approached with care :) Very well built again, Mike, can't fault the course/playability/greens etc. a bit. The one thing I find with this type of terrain (Rocky hills) is that the rock texture looks very repetative. Don't know if that's unavoidable (because you need to repeat ANY rock texture to cover large hills?...) or if there is a way to improve on that look? Only a small thing in the big picture tho - a keeper, thanks for sharing it Mike :)

Fun course. For me it is one of those courses I had to play the first time to find out where the best place it is to land the ball. Nice Job !!
