After just finishing reviewing the Edgewood Park Golf Club 2011, I found out that ChadLegend had designed only one other course, five months earlier, so I ran like a... rabbit to play this one ! Needless to say, after being near the Lake Tahoe, the scenery at Coeur d'Alene is another beauty : with mountains filled with trees, gorgeous plantings and your usual amount of lakes and ponds, this par 72 plays very nicely and is beautiful to look at. Right off the bat, the left dogleg par-4 1st hole is very pretty with the tee box set between two very high trees and a fairway getting narrower as you get close to the sligthly elevated green. The next noticeable hole is the left dogleg par-5 4th, quite scenic with all those bunkers spread on the fairway, left and right, and its elevated green. The short par-4 5th hole is gorgeous too, with its very narrow, and slightly elevated, fairway, its big lake on the left side with its long bridge, and a very nice green with red and white flowers all around. After the right dogleg par-4 6th hole, where you will need to hit a big big tee shot over the lake, I like the very picturesque par-3 7th hole, with a steep elevated green, surrounded by bunkers and the lake below on the right side. Other holes worth mentioning are the par-4 8th, similar to the 6th, with a downhill green (quite small), and the par-5 9th hole, a pretty straight narrow fairway, with a little creek across but with a nice view (flowers, clubhouse) near the green. The back 9 has some great-looking holes too, starting with the sharp dogleg par-4 11th, with a lake on the left side, followed by the par-3 14th, nice with a shallow wasteland in front and its green surrounded by bunkers. The last four holes are nice : the right dogleg par-4 15th is quite scenic with bunkers all across the fairway and near the elevated green, the par-3 16th hole has its green on a hill on the other side of the lake, and the par-4 17th is a right dogleg with the lake on the right. But the best hole might be the... last, the par-5 18th, simply gorgeous, with beautiful flower beds on the right side and bunkers on the left of a twisted fairway, leading to the slightly elevated green, near the clubhouse. Just like at Edgewood Park, ChadLegend designed another gorgeous "fantasy" course (which looks so real !) with, once again, short par-5 holes, giving you eagle opportunities, narrow fairways, plenty of water hazards, a few elevation changes and a very nice landscape to look at. Like many other players, I just wished he could have designed some more...

This is what it's all about folks!! Chad, excellent job!!! You can almost always tell a gr8 course from the first tee. It makes you say WOW!! The attention to detail is in your face, from the tee boxes to the bunkers, to the overall layout, to the smoothness. I Loved the textures, the pano and everything about this course.. The greens were perfect IMO.. There were a couple of areas around some tee boxes that needed smoothing, and a bunker or 2, but I still rate this as a Masterpiece... I only wish the servers were still running.. Top notch job!!!! Your best work ever!!!!! Your bud, Larry..

VERY good indeed Chad, great layout with some really clever holes built into the very natural looking terrain. I didn't like the rough textures so much, particularly the ordinary rough which I thought looked very flat and bland, but thats just me, I like rough to look like rough and this one just doesn't render too well. But that takes nothing away from the quality of this course which is top notch.

Very good job on this design. The course played smoothly and I thoroughly enjoyed my round (helped by an eagle on the last hole). Thanks for sharing this course. PS Why have you changed your architect name?

5 stars forsure PD! Excellent terrain work. A couple little itsy bitsy things lol.. Back side of green 9 could have used a little more smoothing out, and some paths weren't as level/smooth in some areas. Again, Top Notch Work!
