Another smooth course from ron717, with a nice small mountain range as a panorama, wide open (and often) undulating fairways and a lot of slightly-elevated greens, with a couple of tricky putts on a few of them.
Even though this par 72 is not too difficult, there are a few holes which stand out, such as the right dogleg par-5 2nd, with a tree-lined fairway and an elevated green, the slightly-uphill par-4 6th, with a tee shot over a small creek, flowing across the fairway, and a green, reachable with your driver (with a little luck...), and the right dogleg par-5 9th hole, with an undulating fairway and where you should be able to putt for an eagle after reaching the green on your second shot.
Coming back, I like the right dogleg par-4 12th hole, where you can shorten its distance by cutting the corner with your tee shot flying above the trees, the par-5 14th, with a tee shot again over a small creek crossing the fairway, and a green, slightly to the right, with trees partially hiding it and guarded by a couple of bunkers in front.
As for the 17th hole, it is a left dogleg par-5, with a downhill tee shot over the serpentine creek crossing the fairway, and a long approach to the undulating green, surrounded by a few trees.
Overall, even though ron717 has designed a lot of courses over the years, often with nice plantings, this one is not his best, as it lacks a little bit of excitement and... ducks (maybe because they were too busy... ducking the balls) !

Almost 3 years after the release date I finally played this -very nice to see- course.
The greens caused me a headache, so no repeat for me.
Visual 4 stars, playability 2 stars...
Sorry

LOL. I made this green texture for a friend years ago and they were never meant to be available to the public. Not sure how they made it to CDL.

Nice course though. Just need to set to normal if you want it to play like VD.

GR8 job Ron. This is one of those courses that doesn't look challenging until you play it. Greens are reachable, but will kill you if you're not careful.

I liked this course and well made but agree on the greens I am all for fast greens but was not happy on the "pace" of them, the ball was speeding up ALL the time when however much I tried to "weight" my putt was not realistic. If they were large flat rolling greens yes but these were roly poly small greens which made it a bit hit or miss.

This is a very well done course. It looks real. Good looking course to the eye. I like the fast greens. The texture changes from rough to fairway and fairway to green are done very cleanly. A very good golf course.
