Well-designed course as usual by Jimbo63, but with a lot of straight holes and reasonably wide fairways and smooth greens, it is not overly difficult. This par 72, however, starts with a very tough par-3 1st hole, slightly to the right, with trees hiding the fairway guarded by a wide bunker in front. But after the straight par-4 3rd hole, where the green is reachable from the tee box, most of the following holes are pretty straight, either slightly downhill or uphill... Just like on the 1st hole, the back 9 starts very nicely with a right dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a small mound on the left side, a lake halfway across and to the right and trees in the corner. Other noticeable holes are the par-3 11th, with a blind tee shot to the slightly downhill green, the dogleg par-4 14th hole, with a small lake on the right side and trees in the corner, and the par-4 16th with its panoramic view of the lake and small mountains as a backdrop. As for the par-5 18th, after you hit a tee shot over the water, it looks like all the other par-5 holes (5th, 8th and 12th), and is less challenging with only one small pot bunker, right in the middle of the fairway (unlike the 5th hole, where there are two more bunkers around the pot bunker...). Overall, while it plays nicely, this course is not one of my favorites from Jimbo63 but you will still have a good time playing it !

Superb design. A lovely setting, a solid, (mostly) traditional layout, good degree of challenge - plenty to love here. I've mentioned before that Jimbo's work creates a true and realistic feel and this is no exception - very enjoyable to play, a really great design. (And wee mention to 'Birdie Eagles', probably the best course comment I've read.) Cheers!

They give out Oscars for best adapted screenplay - are there any awards for adapted golf courses? If so, I hereby nominate Jimbo for this Scarborough rewrite, a very entertaining story which starts with a long par 3 & involves hitting over trees. The plot thickens with some long, straight fairways but there are also a few twists along the way. I won't give the ending away, but there is an expanse of water separating our hero from his ultimate goal & he must decide if it is worth the risk of trying to get across, not knowing what lies beneath...
