Boy, for a first course, this par 72 is a pretty good start ! With its wide open space, meandering cart paths and sparse planting, it is not the most visually exciting course you will ever see but it plays smoothly and that's what you want in the first place. Even though I like the back 9 better, the front 9 has a few holes worth mentioning, starting with the dogleg to the right par-5 2nd, with the creek running across the fairway, and my favorite holes, the two doglegs to the right par-4 7th and par-5 9th. As for the par-3 8th hole, it is an "easy" one but it looks nice with all those trees lined up as a backdrop. Coming back, the green of the par-4 12th hole is reachable from the tee but the edge of the small lake on the right side looks a little bit jagged and needs to be smoothened out. Both par-4 13th and 15th holes look fine, but grass is cutting through the cart paths in the middle of the fairways (not sure if it was intended...). Two other holes stand out : the par-3 14th, with its nice view and the creek running along the fairway, just like the dogleg to the left par-5 16th hole. Overall, and despite a couple of little displaying bugs, SandSaver did a very good job for his first course and deserves to be congratulated for his efforts as most of us would not even come close to making a golf course !

For your first design this is an excellent effort. The course had a nice feel and open look. With wind up and on dry very tough. Well done.

Thanks for the input to both of you. Jimbo - I did not know that about the room around the plot - I always thought that 100 yds space was supposed to be enough; I will leave more next time. I have no end of trouble with spikes in water features, and that is something i will have to spend some time working out.

Good job on this course, especially as it is your first course. I enjoyed the open feel to the course and it played smoothly. A couple of points which may be of use on your next design, they are not meant as a criticism. If you give yourself more room around the course plot you will not get those unsightly gaps between the course and the pano and I noticed some spikes in the water features. Keep up the good work and many thanks for sharing this course.
