Another course built eleven years ago that deserves all the praise heaped on it. I hope more people play it over the years, and enjoy it as much as I do. One of my favorites, and I wasn't expecting that on the first tee. Just excellent. Thanks, Danut Golf. A lot.

With this Jackstraw Mountain course, Danut Golf shows, one more time, that you can design a beautiful one with just a few libraries (only 3 !), as this par 72 is a pure delight to watch and play with a very high wooded hill, tree-lined and narrow fairways, a few water hazards and plenty of elevated greens.
It starts on the very scenic par-4 1st hole, with that big hill facing the tee box, where you will need to hit a blind tee shot downhill an undulating and twisting fairway, followed by a very tough and blind approach shot over trees to reach the hidden and elevated green, with a tiny pond in front.
After the straight and downhill par-3 2nd hole, with a nice panoramic view as you reach the green, you will have another birdie opportunity on the short (about 290 yards) and straight par-4 3rd, uphill all the way, before heading for the “down-and-up” par-4 4th hole, with an undulating fairway and an elevated green, slightly to the right, with a big pond below on the left side, not far from it.
On the right dogleg par-5 5th hole, if you hit a nice blind downhill tee shot over the trees in the corner, you should be able to shorten the distance quite a lot, leaving you with a reasonable approach shot to reach the elevated green, guarded by a lone bunker in front.
Two of my favorite holes follow : the par-3 6th is downhill and very pretty, with its peninsula green, looking more like an island green, and the left dogleg par-4 7th hole is beautiful too, with that high hill again facing the tee box, a steep downhill tee shot over trees in the left corner, and an uphill shot to the green.
The left dogleg par-4 8th hole is no pushover either, as it is uphill all the way, with a tee shot over trees in the corner and a small lake, not far behind on the right side of the fairway halfway through...
As for the right dogleg par-5 9th hole, reaching the elevated green on your second shot will be tough as deep rough splits the fairway across midway, making it almost impossible then to reach the steeply-elevated narrow green !
The back 9 starts with the nice right dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a blind and downhill tee shot over trees, and a slightly-elevated green, and is followed by the straight and steep uphill par-3 11th and the right dogleg par-4 12th hole, with an uphill tee shot flying over an undulating and narrow fairway and a slightly-downhill green.
Another favorite hole of mine is the beautiful and long (more than 600 yards) par-5 14th, with a tee shot landing on the other side of the hill, followed by a second and blind uphill shot over some trees to get close to the green.
The right dogleg par-4 15th hole is similar to the 4th, with a small lake midway on the left side and an elevated green, unlike the par-4 16th hole, quite tough with its zigzagging fairway and tiny creek midway below the tiered fairway, leaving you with a tricky approach to the steep elevated green.
Finally, after the par-4 17th hole, with its narrow and twisting fairway and elevated green, slightly to the left, you will face the challenging par-5 18th, with deep rough splitting the fairway halfway across, and a very long and blind second (and/or third ?) shot to reach the steeply-elevated green.
With its beautiful fairway and green textures, superb elevation work, nice trees and those lone bunkers near the greens, Jackstraw Mountain ranks as one of the best courses, designed by Danut Golf, and you should definitely hurry to download it !

Awesome design, I thoroughly enjoyed this. It's visually gorgeous, plays smooth (loved the greens) and the layout is excellent - natural and intuitive. And best of all, it's tough but fair. I found out almost too late that it's better to leave the cover on the driver here - course mgt is imperative as the fairways and landing areas are uniformly tricky. The greens will also test - whilst not severe there's not too many straight putts to be found. A really fun track, sweet on the eye and a great challenge - brilliant. Cheers!

Really enjoyed playing this coure. It is challenging without being quirky. I like the elevation changes throughout the course. Greens are tough but playable. Play it smart and there are some rewards to be had. Very nice course, great job!!

A really enjoyable, but challenging, course. The narrow, twisting, undulating fairways ensure that each shot requires additional care. The course played smoothly. Many thanks for sharing this course and I look forward to your next design.
